Quiet-spoken Martin Brighton made contact with Brian Gerrish over twenty years ago. An email and telephone call led to a meeting where an exchange of information showed two cities, Sheffield and Plymouth, mired in corruption as a result of the secret networks of Common Purpose.
When Martin's wife was intimidated by the city council, his investigations lifted the lid on millions in European funds that were used fraudulently within the wider Labour administration, which brought about a whitewash of the whole affair by the EU's anti-fraud office, OLAF.
Martin experienced threats and intimidation which strengthened his resolve for justice. His research, which started with corruption, then unearthed the cover-up of child abuse. Ultimately, his investigatory efforts were to result in a South Yorkshire police raid on his home and the theft of substantial evidence which the police should investigate.

The discussion covers the confrontational interventions for which Vega is known — AOC, Mike Pompeo, Kamala Harris and Hakeem Jeffries among his targets — and why he believes that kind of public challenge lends credibility money cannot buy.
He explains his slogan, Declare Independence, as wider than to step away from political parties: it is a call to break out of the narrative that dictates what people think they are permitted to believe. He argues Congress should be replaced wholesale by 25 to 35 year olds, sets out his account of how AIPAC identifies and funds politicians early in their careers, and points to Section 219 of the NDAA, which would deepen US–Israeli military and intelligence integration, as the immediate test of whether ordinary people can force their representatives to act.
