  • The Russian Army's Top Drone Pilots Just Had to EVACUATE ON FOOT | Pfarrer & Smart

Moscow spent nearly two years building a northern position meant to pressure the fortress cities, yet that advantage is now reversing despite a major edge in manpower. Chuck Pfarrer and Jason Jay Smart break down what changed around Lyman, why elite drone personnel were forced out on foot, and how commanders ended up defending gains that no longer produced a useful military result.

Ukrainian forces are combining ground robots, fiber-optic drones, surveillance, and attacks behind the line in ways that make older battlefield methods increasingly difficult to use. Those changes help explain why adding more troops and equipment has not translated into lasting progress, while official claims have drifted further from conditions visible on the maps.

Beyond the front, the same pressure is appearing across transport, fuel, logistics, Black Sea operations, military supply, and the wider economy. Jason follows the political and economic strain behind those failures, while Chuck shows why large formations can now become vulnerable before they even reach the fight.

What is happening around Lyman is bigger than another local setback because it exposes the central problem facing Moscow as winter approaches: more men, more deadlines, and more equipment no longer guarantee more control.

  • Putin's FSB vs His Own Elites: The Battle for Survival Begins

A vicious struggle over power, protection and money is breaking out inside Moscow as the FSB, military patrons and wealthy insiders collide. For decades, powerful businessmen survived by staying useful to the Kremlin and keeping the right people on their side. Now one multibillion-dollar company is exposing what happens when those connections suddenly stop working.

EFKO grew into one of the country’s largest food producers before its business network expanded into drone production personally visited by Vladimir Putin. When senior executive Yekaterina Kustova was jailed, two powerful military figures backed her release, including Russia’s No. 2 military intelligence official. Their intervention failed, raising a much larger question about who still holds real power inside the system.

At the same time, authorities have seized roughly $89.5 billion in private assets while leading bankers warn that owners are becoming reluctant to invest. Sanctions make new factories, technology and domestic capital increasingly important, yet businessmen have stronger reasons to protect their money instead. Moscow can take companies that already exist, but forcing someone to risk years building the next one is far harder.

  • Moscow Lost Control of Its Own Front Line Army

Russia’s front line is increasingly slipping beyond the command system Moscow relies on to control the war, as battlefield reports stop matching what Russian troops actually hold. Commanders are making decisions around territory Moscow says has been captured even when its own forces have not secured it.

Ukraine is exploiting that failure by changing the battlefield faster than Russian command can react. False claims about captured positions can distort artillery targeting, confuse neighboring units, and send soldiers toward ground their own reports say should already be under Russian control. Ukrainian drones, ground robots, electronic warfare, air defense, and infantry are being combined to hit Russian forces before commanders can adjust.

Pressure is also building behind the front as Moscow spends more to protect exports, reroute trade, replace customers, and keep state finances under control. Every emergency solution costs money and resources needed somewhere else. Russia can keep announcing progress, but controlling a war becomes far harder when commanders receive a distorted picture, reactions come too late, and the state must spend more just to keep the same system moving.

  • Ukraine Kept Vivaldi Secret. Now Russia's Front Collapsed. | Pfarrer & Smart

Russia’s infantry is pushing toward Orikhiv on motorcycles as destroyed bridges around Polohy squeeze the roads behind them. Bikes can carry soldiers forward, but they cannot move armor, fuel, bulk ammunition or recovery vehicles. Ukraine is also striking drone-control infrastructure covering those routes, leaving lightly protected assault groups farther ahead of the heavy force needed to keep them supplied and fighting.

Years of armored losses have pushed parts of the Russian military toward motorcycles, buggies and even pack animals for jobs once handled by protected vehicles. Faster bikes can scatter infantry and complicate targeting, but every destroyed crossing forces trucks, artillery and armored vehicles onto fewer routes. Longer detours burn more fuel, increase maintenance demands and leave the supporting force exposed for longer periods.

An advance that looks successful on a battlefield map can become far more dangerous once the roads behind it start disappearing. Infantry may still move forward while ammunition, evacuation vehicles, firepower and reinforcements struggle to follow. Destroy enough bridges, narrow enough routes and strip away enough drone protection, and the same push that gained ground can leave exposed troops increasingly cut off from the force behind them.

  • Kadyrov Defied Putin’s Order. Moscow Can’t Rein Him In.

Vladimir Putin spent two decades empowering Ramzan Kadyrov to keep Chechnya under control, giving his system money, autonomy, and an armed force capable of crushing opposition. That bargain solved one problem for Moscow while creating another. Kadyrov now commands a political and security network with its own interests, and the Kremlin is discovering how difficult that power is to take back.

The confrontation reaches far beyond one regional dispute as Kadyrov protects his armed forces, expands his family’s position, and fights over valuable assets while preparing for succession. Moscow has reasons to reduce that independence, yet every attempt to tighten control risks resistance from the same network it deliberately strengthened. What began as a system built around loyalty is becoming a struggle over who actually gives the orders.

Years of personal rule have left money, weapons, businesses, and political authority concentrated around competing clans rather than dependable institutions. As resources tighten and succession becomes more important, those arrangements become harder to manage from the center. Putin built this system to prevent another Chechen crisis. Now the structure itself is becoming the problem.

  • Russia POURED Its Army Into Donbas. Ukraine GAINED Ground. | Pfarrer & Smart

Russian hybrid operations are expanding beyond Ukraine to target NATO logistics, underwater infrastructure, and European aviation hubs through dispersed covert actions. Moscow relies on strategic ambiguity, delayed Western attribution, and asymmetric disruptions across multiple nations to burn allied counterintelligence resources and slow supply lines. The immediate consequence is a forced redirection of European national security assets to defend critical transport corridors while Russian state actors exploit regional coordination delays. Evidence from primary observations indicates that Russian forces in Donbas experience extreme casualty lethality, with wounded-to-killed ratios worsening as half of wounded personnel die due to inadequate medical care. Field reports show heavy attrition around Konstantinovka and Pokrovsk, where military commanders sustain up to quarter-million casualties in static urban battles rather than executed maneuver warfare. Russian intelligence operations simultaneously shift toward low-cost proxy recruitment via Telegram, offering up to $40,000 for targeted hits or arson against infrastructure in Western nations. This tactical shift reflects a broader Russian strategy of long-term attrition, exploiting Western political vulnerabilities while attempting to stabilize domestic pressure from returning veterans. By forcing NATO into continuous defense of European rear areas, Moscow seeks to sustain its war economics despite severe economic, administrative, and military degradation at home. • Kremlin MUTED Moscow’s Sirens to Hide Putin's WORST Nightmare

Moscow came under the largest drone attack on the capital of the war while Russia was still voting, yet residents reported no normal air-raid sirens or SMS warnings. The Moscow refinery was hit, more than 400 flights were disrupted, and mobile networks were restricted as the Kremlin closed an election meant to display order and control.

Jason Smart examines what the attack revealed about the limits of that control, from Moscow’s air defenses and election machinery to military reporting and fears of another mobilization. United Russia emerged with nearly 58% of the party-list vote while refinery strikes, fuel pressure, travel disruption, and battlefield setbacks were bringing the cost of the war deeper into everyday life.

Political discipline remains powerful inside Russian institutions, but repeated drone strikes and growing economic pressure are creating problems that cannot be fixed through controlled elections or reassuring television reports. What happened over Moscow exposed the widening distance between the image presented from above and conditions people increasingly experience for themselves.

  • Ireland’s Russia War Pipeline Is STILL OPEN | Caolan Robertson & Jason Smart

The return of Russian oligarchs, diplomats, and cultural elites to high-society European events marks a deliberate soft-power campaign designed to normalize Moscow's image despite ongoing hostilities. European regulatory loopholes allow strategic assets like the Aughinish Alumina refinery in Ireland to export raw materials directly to Russian military supply chains. This enables domestic defense manufacturing to sustain long-term capacity while Western economic sanctions face critical friction points.

Irish journalist and documentary filmmaker Caolan Robertson (@CaolanReports) and Jason Jay Smart expose how Russia escalates tactical pressure in Ukraine by deploying high-velocity, jet-powered drones and cruise missiles to overwhelm urban air defenses in cities like Odesa. Ukrainian defenders are adapting through rapid technological innovation, competing across units to deploy specialized drone interceptors. In response, Ukrainian forces under long-range strike operations led by commanders like Robert Brovdi of the Magyar Birds are targeting centralized Russian energy infrastructure to disrupt fuel supplies and heating grids.

Ukraine's strategic shift toward indigenous defense technology reflects growing self-reliance amid Western political hesitation. Deep-strike drone campaigns against Russian refineries, fuel depots, and energy nodes demonstrate Ukraine's evolving capacity to inflict systemic economic strain on Moscow. By systematically targeting vulnerable centralized utility networks and military supply chains, Ukrainian forces are transforming localized defense operations into a broader campaign against core Russian economic stability.

  • Russia Had 20 Hours to Stop This Drone - and FAILED | Pfarrer & Smart

Ukraine’s long-range FP1 drone strikes into Russia’s Arctic gas hubs at Novy Urengoy and Purovsky expose the total collapse of Moscow’s integrated air defense network. Flying for nearly 20 hours at highway speeds over 3,000 kilometers, these low-flying UAVs exploit unmonitored interior gaps left behind as anti-aircraft systems suffer steady attrition on the front lines.

To protect vital energy infrastructure and commercial hubs, private enterprises and regional governors are forced to fund their own counter-drone defenses. Compounded by over 2,000 summer airport closures and severe fuel shortages, Ukraine’s precision strikes intentionally target single points of failure across refining networks and regime-linked oligarch assets.

Even when drones miss, the economic strain and new asset forfeiture laws exacerbate bank liquidity crises and deep political friction within Putin's war economy. Former Navy SEAL Chuck Pfarrer and Jason Jay Smart unpack how Ukraine’s target analysis systematically fractures Russia’s strategic rear.

  • Putin Built an Army. Now It’s Coming for Him.

The Kremlin's strategy of delegating military recruitment to regional governors has created a fiscal crisis across Russia while spawning an entitled domestic political force. By forcing local administrations to fund escalating sign-on bonuses to satisfy manpower quotas, central authorities shifted conscription friction onto regional budgets. This decentralized arrangement initially produced recruitment volume, but soaring costs and declining sign-ups leave Moscow facing manpower shortfalls alongside crippling subnational deficits.

First-half 2026 recruitment fell to 172,000 contracts, leaving Moscow 65,000 soldiers short of target despite bonus offers surging 64 percent across regional borders. Spending 27 million dollars daily on enlistment incentives pushed 83 percent of Russian regions into combined deficits exceeding 20 billion dollars, forcing a 6.2-billion-dollar debt write-off financed by selling 100 tons of gold to Hong Kong. Meanwhile, the Kremlin rejected 99.7 percent of 65,000 Time of Heroes applicants and slashed parliamentary seats for veterans from 150 to 30, fearing returning soldiers constitute non-systemic opposition.

These combined financial and political strains illustrate the limits of war economics within authoritarian governance. Redirecting domestic healthcare funding, down 25 percent since 2021, toward military compensation destabilizes internal financial systems while alienating pro-war hardliners. Failing to deliver promised political power to armed veterans risks transforming Moscow's core support base into a volatile national security threat capable of disrupting state stability.
