As the saying goes, "C's Get Degrees". The boys give it the gold old college try, but tune in to see if they get their Degrees. The podcast starts off a little rocky with some technical problems, but the team charges on and gives tips for holding barre chords. UU offers feedback on a co-op Student Review with Aldrine suggesting the players watch their attack, and having one person set the rhythm. Kahai advises that the duo diverge their playing, and play in different areas on the neck. A UU+ member asks how they can achieve better audio during zoom meetings and open mics. This sidetracks the guys a little, and they end up talking about Ukulenny, Andrew Molina, and other future podcast guest. The Songwriting Challenge gets the better of the UU team this week. Aldrine and Kahai show their "WIP" songs, and the boys schedule a "Retake Test" (new deadline: March 18th) for the Challenge. Even though "C's Get Degrees", hopefully the team can come back with their A game. The podcast finishes off with a reminder of the new lessons that were just released, and next week's special guest, Andrew Molina.

At the top of the podcast, a member asks the guys for advice regarding a crack in his ukulele. Should he ignore it, fix it himself, or hire a luthier? Other members ask if it's ok to use smaller strings in larger grooves? This week's packed with technical questions; someone else asks if he should be worried about his string's high tension? This leads the guys to talk about professional player's signature string sets. Aldrine gives fingerpicking feedback on a Student's Review. The question of what humidifiers do you use, and what humidity is too low for the ukulele are tackled next. The Hot Sauce is back with a vengeance. This is our 3rd Hot Sauce Taste Test and our 2nd Spicy Songwriting Challenge. Before we try the "Hottest" Hot Sauce, we have to answer some questions and give some feedback. The podcast starts off with Aldrine answering detailed pick and tuning questions from his personal youtube videos. For a first, the guys give feedback on a UBass student review. On another Student's Review, they suggest smoothing out the rhythmic transitions, and the team also give some recording tips. Inspired by this week's taste test (torture), Aldrine sets the 2nd Spicy Songwriting Challenge. To top it all off, Aldrine answers more questions on the UBass, and reviews the Challenge Guidelines; all while eating the "Hottest" Hot Sauce.

This Week, the UU Team asks the "Real" Chicken or Egg question: Melody, Chords, Which Came First? And what is more important? The guys explain their individual songwriting processes, and their personal takes on what is more important: Melody or Chords. Aldrine uses his own songs as examples of how the process can start differently, but you should always go down the rabbit hole. Aaron gives an insightful quote, "Songwriting is an Exercise in Letting Go." And Kahai brings up why you shouldn't be so precious with your song ideas. A member asks what songs they can use to practice the Golpe, then the winner of the last Songwriting Challenge is picked. It's a second Christmas when the team unwraps a very thoughtful gift from the Baye family.

We're back with a New Name and a New Intro! For the first episode of The Ukulele Underground Podcast, the team starts off with a couple of student Reviews. They follow up explaining where people can send their Student Reviews and Songwriting Submissions. This sends the guys into a tangent on good Graduation and Wedding Videos. Getting back on track, Aldrine answers last week's question on Radius Fretboards. A UU member asks if it's ok to use your thumb to hold or mute notes? UU brings up the importance and safety of keeping a straight wrist with both your left and right hands. The team tackles a strange problem where a member's more advanced strumming is distracting beginners. Aaron and Aldrine demonstrate how you can strum with more flourishes and techniques, but still keep the same beat and stick with the group. Aldrine caps off the podcast with his own cliffhanger question, some announcements, and reminders.
