  • Chapter Two: Light Emerging

Chapter two starts with breaking down creation. It tackles, what is creation, how does do we tap into it to harness the power and it gives the listener tools to begin to use creation as a way to live their life. Next, this chapter talks about purpose. It expands the information sharing in the book "Be Love: A Book about Awakening."

  • Chapter One: The Beautiful Darkness

In this chapter,  I start with a story of my my journey through a difficult time. I share how there are two types of darkness. One is the darkness of the mind; the other is the darkness in the silence. The dark times we experience in our minds relate to the struggles and challenges we have with the outside world, our past experiences, and our struggles with ourselves. These become the dark times we go through. The darkness in the silence is the place within us where we experience the presence of God.  This chapter ends with the description of the veils that cover our true nature and how to remove them to experience a greater depth of the silence that lives within in us all.

The Awakening Podcast series was created to give you the tools to live a more purposeful and peaceful life through the teachings of Ned Burwell, author of the book “Be Love: A Book About Awakening”.

Session Twelve – The Creative Side of the Soul: Both Ned and I feel that this is one of the more far-reaching and compelling episodes of the series. Ned discusses his concepts on creation and how it works according to what he believes. I would definitely try to maintain an open mind with this because chances are, your mind will have a difficult time trying to comprehend some of this. Whether you choose to believe what is said or not, it is incredibly interesting what Ned has to say here. f11e0

    Tools for Session 12

    1. Do you have any blocks with your creativity? You may be more creative than you think. Make a list of all the things in your life that require you to be creative. Try to see how creativity is already in your life.
    2. Practice letting go of your mind while creating. This will help creativity flow better.
    3. Think of every thought, feeling, or action you make as a creation that is making your reality. Keep this in mind as you go about your day. Watch how the things you have your attention on move into your life.
    4. Take some time to look at what is in your range of trajectory. Where are you pointing? What have you put yourself in alignment with? The answer is your trajectory.

Session Eleven – Meditation: Is it a practice or a study? How do we meditate? What are the benefits to it? Can anyone do it? Is it even real? These are all very valid questions that I know I had about meditation, mainly because I have heard so much about it and never spent much time with it. Ned has a great deal of experience with mediation and gives us some great tools to begin practicing meditation and he also dispels many things that are misunderstood with the practice.

    Tools for Session 11

    1. Practice 20 mins of meditation 1- 3 times a day.

    2. Practice meditation in a busy place, like a food court at the mall or an airport etcetera.

    3. Do as much eyes open meditation as you can.

    4. Practice a moving meditation, go for a walk, bike ride or anything that gets you moving while doing your meditation practice.

The Awakening Podcast series was created to give you the tools to live a more purposeful and peaceful life through the teachings of Ned Burwell, author of the book “Be Love: A Book About Awakening”.

Session Ten – Unity: This is the longest episode in the series and the most story-filled from the life experiences of Ned Burwell. Some of the things we discuss are how people often look to see themselves in other people and this is one of the most common things that unifies us to others. We also look at how people should try to look closely at the qualities in others that they value, striking up conversations in person, and living more in the world rather than on social media. There are many interesting observations that we make about our society in this episode.

    Tools for Session 10

    1. For an entire day, try to find something you admire in every person you meet. If you want to take this one step further, after you find something you like about another, let them know.
    2. Do you spend enough time talking with people face to face? If you interact more on social media, take some time for real time conversations. A good sign that you are out of balance with your phone is when you are visiting someone and, during your visit, you keep checking your phone or start a conversation on it with someone else. While visiting someone, it is courteous to keep your phone put away.
    3. I challenge you to try to start a conversation with a stranger every time you go out.
    4. There are many organizations you can join and volunteer with. Be brave and join one in your community.
    5. Dedicate yourself to being kind to everyone you meet. Show others respect by engaging with them in a kind and gentle approach.
    6. I challenge you to find time to spend with a senior in your community.
    7. Next time you find yourself condemning or criticizing another, try to catch yourself and change your thoughts by looking for what you can bow to in them.

The Awakening Podcast series was created to give you the tools to live a more purposeful and peaceful life through the teachings of Ned Burwell, author of the book “Be Love: A Book About Awakening”.

Session Nine – Finding Our Purpose: Have you ever thought to yourself whether you are truly living a life that is purposefully yours? Are you using your heart to guide your decision making for what is right for you? Do you ever hold yourself to old standards in how you used to be rather than what you can become? Instead of saying “I can’t” say “I will” and watch your world begin to change. e

    Tools for Session 9

    1. Ask yourself: “What is my purpose?” Write down the things that come to mind when you ask yourself this question.
    2. Identify where you may be following in your parents’ or a friend’s footsteps. Keep in mind that this is not necessarily bad if you are consciously choosing this for yourself.
    3. Set aside excuses as to why you cannot live your life. Then identify if you are going against what you really want in your life.
    4. Become aware of friendships that no longer serve you. It is not a good thing to banish people from your life, but if someone is holding you back, let them go with love.
    5. Answer this question: How do you live a full and purposeful life?
    6. Remove all the obstacles that are preventing you from following your dreams. Do you believe in your dreams? If not, why not?
    7. Become aware of how often you say, “I can’t.” Are you willing to have enough courage to replace that with “I will”?
    8. Become aware of where are you holding yourself back from living your purpose. Do you have old stories about yourself that might no longer be true?
    9. Take notice of how and why you hold yourself back from following your heart. Is it because others won’t approve or support you?

Session Eight – Letting Go: The baggage that you hold onto from your life experiences can be the very things that are holding you back from living a purposeful and love filled life. Why on earth would you be willing to carry the weight of your traumas on your back for miles and miles if they weren’t providing you with an opportunity to live a more peaceful life? This is a very heavy session, and personally one of my absolute favorites in this series. A lot of what is said in this session spoke to me on a very personal level and woke me up. I hope it does that for you too.

    Tools for Session 8

    1. Make a list of the things that have power over you. In this list, include what you cannot live without.
    2. What are your comforts? Do you have rituals you must follow? For example: Do you need to have three coffees before you think you can function? This is how a comfort controls you.
    3. Look at your fears as if they are not yours. Write down how this changes your thoughts about the fear you are viewing.
    4. Can you think of any examples where fear has distorted a truth you hold?
    5. When you made a list of your stresses, were there any that were not real? Watch for this when you feel stressed. Are you stressing over real things, or future things?
    6. What does a typical day entail for you? Do you have things that sap your time and energy? Try to become more conscious of what’s draining all your time.
    7. Are there things you have a hard time accepting? Make a list of the things you find hard to accept. Once you have your list, you can begin to allow acceptance with the things on your list. Some things may take a great deal of courage and love to bring acceptance into. Just do your best and love yourself during this process.

Session Seven – Relationships: Without question, this two-part section of the series will change your outlook on how to operate within the relationship you have with others, but more importantly how you look at the relationship that you have with yourself. You cannot possibly love another until you love yourself, and so with that being said the first part to this session deals more with having a loving relationship with yourself. The second part of this session is about how you then move onto having a loving relationship with another.

    Tools for Session 7

    1. Take some time to communicate with your partner. Share details of your life or how you feel about the person you are with.
    2. Understand your needs and share them with your partner. Get to know what your partner needs.
    3. Let your partner know how you need to be taken care of when you are upset, sad, or frustrated.
    4. Practice not taking anything personally with your partner.
    5. Learn how you can best support your partner’s purpose.
    6. Make time to be alone with each other.
    7. Be attentive to your partner’s needs. Try to identify where they need your help. If you are unsure, the best thing to do is ask.
    8. Be open to hearing criticism from your partner. Learn to ask what you can do better in the relationship.
    9. Love yourself.

    Tools for Session 6

    1. Make a list of all the things that move you away from your peace. What makes you sad, angry, frustrated, et cetera? Once you have your list, look for common trends.
    2. Trace the origin of your triggers. When was the first time you were triggered? Try to trace it back as far as you can go.
    3. Work with the six steps to healing. Steps 3, 4, and 5 may take a bit of time and effort on your part. Take as much time as you need to work with the steps.
    4. How are you at communicating with your partner? One thing you could do is ask your partner how they rate your communication skills. Be open to their response if you ask. This exercise could open up a very useful dialogue for your relationship
    5. Be aware when your emotions arise and practice letting go of the feeling of your emotions.
    6. Take some time to look at all the relationships you have. Are there any similarities among them all?
