The Malaysian Family Community (KKM) is a programme implemented under the Information Department. This programme is based on community empowerment as an agent for disseminating information and government policies to the community while also fostering unity amongst the local community. The effort to channel national information as well as foster community unity through KKM would be successful through this programme, in line with the Malaysian Family aspirations initiated by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
According to Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima TPr Annuar Haji Musa, the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, the Malaysian Family Community could play a vital role in mobilising the local community to collaborate and share ideas and thoughts in mainstreaming the Malaysian Family Aspirations, namely inclusion, togetherness and gratitude, as well as strengthening efforts to create an informed and knowledgeable society as well as raising public understanding of government policies.
The establishment of the Malaysian Family Community has a positive impact on the community’s understanding on the government’s policies, recommendations, and activities. It is important in today’s society where globalisation poses a significant challenge. There is a lot of fake news on social media. As a result, all false and unauthentic news can be dealt with through this Malaysian Family Community, while also assisting the community in socio-economic advancement in line with the development of the digital economy.
The Malaysian Family Community is seen as capable of producing an information literate and knowledgeable society capable of not only receiving information but also transmitting information to other communities. As a result, it is hoped that the establishment of the Malaysian Family Community throughout the states will provide significant benefits not only to the community but also to Malaysia’s future.
