Managing waste is a mind-boggling task, not least because we generate so many types of them that require different methods of handling - from the well-known recyclables of paper, glass and plastic; to electronic and food waste. How can waste be successfully managed, if it’s such a complex process? We speak with two individuals who designed an elaborate and thorough waste management process in the University of Malaya called the UM Zero Waste Campaign. Prof. Dr. Sumiani Yusoff from UM’s Faculty of Engineering is the principal co-ordinator of the project, while waste management consultant Jaron Keng, is manager of the campaign.
