Elisabeth Anna Resch is currently in the United Nations Global Compact, where she has been working for the past three years. She is an advisor for the Global Compact initiatives department and prior to that was the Supply Chain Sustainability Manager. She has accumulated a vast number of experiences over the years including being a Consultant in the World Bank and a Sustainability Coordinator in Global Compact Network Canada. In this podcast, Elisabeth explains the different roles she was part of, how she managed to get the respective positions, and any highlights of her career path. Furthermore, she provides detailed insight into the culture of the firms she worked at and the skill set she believes which are required for success.
Smita Mitra is currently a criminal intelligence specialist for INTERPOL and focuses on reducing child sexual exploitation and associated areas. Prior to this, she worked as a Program Head and Consultant for the UN. For 6 years she was the Program Head for Woman, Peace, and Security in India where she published articles on gender and migration such as in the India Migration Report 2015. Following this, she transferred to be a Consultant in the department of International Relations and Public Policy. Due to her diversified career path, in the podcast, she has been able to provide deep insight into ways to obtain an internship in the sustainable development industry.
Rosalind Skillen is a recent Cambridge graduate, securing a First Class in Modern and Medieval Languages. Her passion for languages led her to break into the sustainable industry as a global communications intern for the UN in Mexico. Working there for over four months, Rosalind explains her journey and provides relevant advice from the perspective of a recent university student. She highlights the experience of going through this internship virtually as well and the adjustments that had to be made!
Michael Paul Brosowski is an Australian teacher and activist. The organisation he created, Blue Dragon, focuses on providing exceptional care to Vietnamese children and families in crisis while creating long-term change for a better world. Since the first rescue of a child from slavery in 2005, Blue Dragon has reached a major milestone, with the 1,000th rescue of a survivor of human trafficking!
Nabila Jamshed is a United Nations specialist, TEDx speaker, former UN Peacekeeper, and WMD disarmament professional. She graduated from Oxford University and is currently a public policy and global governance specialist for the UN in India. Prior to this, she has been involved in UNESCO as an Executive Officer, Analyst to the Joint Mission Analysis Centre in South Sudan, and an external relations role in OPCW!
Dr. David Malone is currently the Rector of the UN University and Under-Secretary-General of the UN in Japan. He is an MPA graduate from Harvard University and D.Phil from Oxford University. He has an extensive career path including but not limited to the Canadian High Commissioner to India, President of the IRDC as well as an author on various international security and development books!
