This is a response to some possible objections one might have to my previous two episodes. The letter I read can be found in the book, Passion For the Truth Compassion for Humanity, edited by Mary O'Driscoll. If you can't be physically with sinners as they die, at least be with them in prayer.

Another meditation from the Dialogue of Catherine of Siena. It is from the section titled, "Tears". This is in response to how difficult it is to mind our own business when the sin of others is always in our face.

For further explanation, I do not think it wrong to admonish the sinner. After all, that is a spiritual work of mercy. However, I think we can draw from both the Dialogue and the Gospel that the only state in which it is meritorious for us to admonish the sinner is when we deal with our own sins FIRST. Finally, this quote can be found in the section of the Dialogue titled: "Truth" - or page 190 of the Classics of Western Spirituality edition.
