It's in Padma’s nature to question the status quo, because she values efficiency. Don't you? It started at the beginning of her career as a software engineer. Managing the IBM Recipe by Context project's development and deployment in a 300mm chip facility, decreasing the recipe creation from 17 hours to 13 minutes.

She loves to compete with herself more than with her competitors, knowing that she doesn’t have to limit her boundaries. So far, she has been capable of anything she sets her mind to yet is hungry to push her horizons. She strolled through six continents, went to Punta Arenas, the city at the end of the world, and longingly looked at the seventh continent that she wants to set foot on one day. 

She is a mentor, protégée, and not afraid to claim herself a feminist. Her passion project is diversity and inclusion. It led to creating the inaugural IBM program plus mentoring of students and female entrepreneurs. She believes that she is made up of bits of all the people that she has met, and she is currently leading the world's first Financial Services Cloud Ecosystem for IBM.

Walter Obermeier has worked for some real powerhouses of tech, HP, Accenture and UiPath. At 16, he had his first insight into the power of technology and IT in banks. 

In his view, technology is something that you use in a bank, and it's necessary and a tool, but it will not deliver growth. Instead, growth is delivered by people.

The most important thing to support your clients and customers is your moving at their speed. Because customers need a decision today or tomorrow and you need to be fast and adaptive and help your customers achieve their goals.  Banks need to get faster and more adaptive in shorter time frames than they do now.

He’s a follower of the KISS principle, Keep It Simple and the 80/20 Rule. To build towards the future, you will see that you only need 20% of the functionality you have today in your application to delight 80% of your customers and more.

Prakash spent over 20 years working at esteemed banks, such as JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. Bringing deep financial services experience gained across technology, investment banking operations and finance and has led numerous initiatives including public cloud transformation, agile and product model implementation and infrastructure modernization. 

Prakash uses his extensive client side experience and understanding of the challenges faced by financial services organizations to help IBM clients accelerate their digital transformation journeys.

In this episode, we talk to Constantin Mareş, the Chief Digital Officer of OTP Bank Romania and a serious transformation expert.

He has over 20 years of banking experience and is an experienced technology leader within the banking sector. A firm believer that an engaged and motivated workforce, one that is aligned, and committed to a strategy, is key to unlocking the potential of any forward-thinking enterprise.

He started his career at Bancorex, in the Capital Markets department. Moving on to ING, where he worked for 9 years, leading the IT department and the launch of technology-based retail services. In 2006, he was part of the team that prepared the launch of Millennium Bank in Romania. Six years after joining Millennium Bank, he was promoted to the Board of Directors, first coordinating the operational area and then the corporate client area.

Since 2015, he has been a figurehead of cultural change within OTP Bank Romania, a change that has included both the digital transformation and the transformation of the way of working into modern and an agile one. 

His current role is Chief Digital Officer, directly responsible for the success of OTP Bank Romania's Apollo Organic Growth Program, which focuses on improving the customer experience, process efficiency and developing key products.
