Arokiaswamy Velumani is an Indian scientist and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chairman and managing director of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd., a chain of diagnostic and preventive care laboratories headquartered in Navi Mumbai. He is the founder and managing director of Nueclear Healthcare Limited, a radiology diagnostics company affiliated to Thyrocare.
There are those who are born into wealth, and then there are those who are not. Dr. Velumani belongs to the latter. From the day he was born, his parents, though generous at heart, couldn't afford to provide him with luxurious things, not even a pair of shoes or trousers. However, today he is the proud owner of Thyrocare, a 200,000 sq. ft laboratory space with complete automation, which he has earned through hard work.
He was selected to work at the Radiation Medicine Centre (RMC) - BARC in Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital Annex. Here, his fascination with exploring experimental platforms in biochemistry was ignited, and it fueled his aspiration to study further. He obtained a Master's and later a Doctorate degree in 'Thyroid Pathophysiology'. While pursuing his academic goals, he also continued working in the laboratory until he reached his limit in doing routine tasks. This prompted him to make the courageous decision to quit BARC and become his own boss. It was a decade-long journey of focus and dedication, and he is now at peace for daring to step out of my comfort zone.
This act of daring, of dreaming beyond imagination and building a vision, became a blessing to him. Armed with the lessons he had learned in life, he planned to soar to new heights. He was pushed hard off the edge, and that's when the passion to achieve more ignited within him!
