  • The Most Creative Skill Has Little To Do With Creativity

The most creative skill you can develop has very little to do with creativity.

It has to do with observation. And with having the courage to say what you see β€” without softening it, without filtering it, without making it safer than it actually is.

In this episode, I talk about The Truth as a creative tool. Why the best comedians, the best writers, and the best advertising campaigns in history are all doing the same thing: naming something that was already there, and trusting that the recognition will follow.

  • Nobody Talks About The Skill That Makes You Creative

Walking my dog at 10am, I felt guilty.

Not because I'd done anything wrong. But something about the quiet streets, the city moving without me, reminded me of the mornings I stayed home from school as a kid. The same mixture of guilt, freedom and happiness β€” decades apart.

That is an association. And associations are not a curiosity of the mind. They are the root of almost everything we call creative: metaphors, similes, Mix and Match. All of it.

In Episode 11 of Uncaged Creativity, I talk about what associations are, the different forms they take, and what you can do with them when they arrive. Including a story about a rock, a friend's fly, and an ancient Chinese martial arts master.

  • What You Miss When You're Always in a Rush

I grew up in a city where walking fast was survival. Terrorism, car bombs, an army that could stop you for anything. You moved quickly and you didn't stop.

It took me years after leaving to learn how to slow down. And when I finally did, I realised how much I had been missing β€” not just in the streets, but in my creative work.

In this episode, I talk about creative patience: why rushing makes you less creative, what you collect when you slow down, and what a simple experiment with fifty circles reveals about original ideas.

  • Why Ronaldinho Watched Basketball

When I was seven, I was doing something alone in my room I would never have shown anyone. I had no idea I was already practising a creative technique I'd use professionally for the rest of my life.

In this episode I break down Mix and Match β€” probably the most immediately useful thing I know about how to generate original ideas. Why Ronaldinho watched NBA games. Why Truman Capote invented a new literary genre. And why the best creative combinations don't just produce something clever β€” they change how you see the world.

  • Why the Most Personal Art Reaches the Most People

At nineteen, I wrote an angry short story about a real person β€” one specific, slightly ridiculous guy in a garage in Lima. I expected people to laugh at him. Instead, they got quiet and started wondering about themselves.

In this episode, I unpack why that happens β€” and why it happens every time. The principle is called universalisation, and it's probably the most useful thing I know about how creative work actually reaches people. I'll show you how it shows up in sculpture, photography, advertising, and writing β€” and give you one clear thing to change in how you approach your own work.

  • What Most People Get Wrong About Art

Art and creativity are not the same thing. We use them as if they are β€” and that confusion has been doing damage for a long time.

In this episode, I try to define both clearly: what art actually is, what creativity actually is, and why the image of the artist as a superior being is a myth that benefits the wrong people.

Whether you consider yourself an artist, a creative, or neither β€” this one is for you.

  • The Most Dangerous Enemy of Your Creativity

Fear is the biggest enemy of your creative voice. Not lack of talent, not lack of technique: fear. It quietly shrinks the territory you're willing to explore, limiting your self-expression without you even realising it.

In this episode, I talk about creative freedom, artistic courage, and what happens when you start pushing past your creative limits and what you find on the other side.

If you want to develop your creative voice and express yourself more freely, this is for you.

  • The Real Reason You’re not Inspired

"I'm not inspired" is one of the most repeated phrases in the creative world. And one of the most misunderstood.

Inspiration was never a divine gift. It was never a mood, or a feeling of readiness, or the right conditions finally arriving. It's something much simpler β€” and much more demanding. And once you understand what it actually is, the excuses disappear.

This episode is about the real reason you're not inspired. And what to do about it.

  • The most misunderstood idea about originality in art

We measure originality by the wrong things. Commercial success. Being compared to the greats. Impressing people around us. And as long as we do, we'll keep chasing it without ever finding it.

This episode is about the question nobody asks: not how to be original, but why. And what changes when you get that order right.

  • Why Some Creatives Will Never Be Replaced by AI

Some years ago, I spent serious money on a painting. My friends thought I was crazy. They said there were other beautiful things, more useful ones. A designer table. A turntable. A top-notch TV. That conversation made me realise we were using the same word to mean completely different things. This episode of Uncaged Creativity explores the difference between pretty and beautiful, why AI can produce one endlessly but will never reach the other, and what that means for every creative person trying to figure out their place in a world increasingly run by machines.
