Terry Comer is currently the Founder & CEO of ImpactData, where he provides the company strategic direction and sales & operations leadership in support of the worldwide expansion of digital infrastructure within underserved communities. Their unique business model focuses to fill a digital talent gap in the tech industry by building high-powered, purpose-built data centers and innovation hubs on college campuses, starting with Historically Black Colleges & Universities (“HBCUs”).
Prior to forming ImpactData, he started his career with the $30 million purchase of American Biosurgical, a leading medical cable manufacturer located in Atlanta, where he led the company's global sales and offshore manufacturing operations, taking the company from just 5 employees to well over 400. From there, he launched the North Avenue Group, a middle-market Private Equity firm, where he operated as an Independent Sponsor, leading the firm’s sourcing activities, investment directives, and growth strategies across a broad range of industries. Over the past 15+ years, he has deployed nearly $200 million in equity & debt capital across five platform investments including transportation, digital marketing, and multi-unit franchising, with a historical return to equity investors of 3.4x MOIC. With full P&L responsibility, he has led across a mix of corporate roles, start-ups, and private equity-backed ventures, including extensive operations experience in Asia.
