Our kids education is key. We are meeting up with Dad So Hard Nation father Mike Tretola to understand more about his passion to be involved in his daughter’s education and running for the local Board of Education. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Mike and what fathers think about and go through when it comes to help their kids with special needs.

This week I’m joined by author and father Chris Meyer. His latest book “Four Months…And A Lifetime” is the touching true story of a father who coached his son’s basketball team from kindergarten through eighth grade, a remarkable nine-year journey with the same boys. Their final march to the eighth-grade season Championship is interspersed with the author’s own journey of falling in love with basketball in early-seventies New York, filled with anecdotes of Dr. J, sneaking into Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium, and playing pickup in Larry Bird’s home state of Indiana.

This episode is sponsored by the new movie American Underdog. When Kurt Warner and Zachary Levi get together to promote their upcoming movie American Underdog, the first thing that comes across is how well they get along. We had a great chat about the movie’s many fatherhood themes, the complicated relationships with their own fathers, and the unexpected joy Kurt felt showing his kids what his life was like before they came along.
Importantly, you can enjoy American Underdog without knowing a thing about football. There are enough messages of love, perseverance, and family to rename it “American Dad Blog.” American Underdog opens Christmas Day.

Meet Bob Rilling a father of 3 who has survived the nightmare of having to bury a child. One of the hardest and most painful things a father can experience. Through his journey he was strong enough to turn to his family and friends for support. Nearly 8 years later he is able to reflect on his loss and inspire others on how not to be paralyze by grief and trauma but live through it all. Rare diseases need even more support.
