Uncensored Humanity

Welcome to a special segment of the Uncensored Humanity Podcast we call American Honesty. During these shows I have two co-hosts; Andrew Hoffman and Jake Bible. On the American Honesty segments we like to discuss topics that society has deemed inappropriate. Our goal is to just get our opinions out in the open for a discussion. We believe that the ability to talk about these tough topics is seriously lacking in today's society, as people seem to get offended too easily.

Today we have a special guest on the podcast Steve Shields. Steve is a financial advisor. It was really interesting to get his perspective on how the corona virus is affecting our economy. Luckily he has an optimistic outlook on the situation as a whole. We also all had a couple of whiskey's during the podcast. It definitely made things a little more interesting and some of us possibly a little more vocal. It was definitely a fun conversation. Hopefully you all enjoy it as much as we did.

American Honesty is a project that Jake started a couple of years ago. So now using the podcast as our platform we are going to carry on the project that Jake started. Hopefully it will lead to some good conversations that others can enjoy as much as we do.

Both Andrew and Jake have been on the show multiple times separately. If you want to hear more about them, please check out their individual episodes.

We have back with us today Jeff Wilson & Ethan Frontz of Instruments of Freedom – Tactical Weapons Training Group as well as our buddy Agent Tom. This podcast has been a long time coming. I personally have been wanting to have all three of these guys on for quite a while, and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. We had such a great time. We talked everything from purchasing your first firearm in these crazy times, to firearms training and of course how to stay sane during this 2020 Coronavirus shut down. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as we did.

Agent Tom is a federal agent. Although he is unable to talk about most of his work for the man, he is able to talk in generalities of some of the things he has done as an agent. Tom joined the Army right after high school. He was deployed over seas shortly after boot camp and spent most of his military career over seas. He spent a bunch of his military career in a job that was different from what he was supposed to be doing. But that allowed him to get some more experience than he would have otherwise. After his time in the military he ended up in Dallas Texas on the Police department. He spent 7 years on the force there. He was applying to different agencies to work for the federal government. He got a position here in Ohio and took that one and has been working for the man ever since.

Jeff and Ethan run a company call the Instruments of Freedom Tactical Weapons Training Group IOFTWTG.COM. Head over and sign up for some training from some of the best firearms trainers in the area. You can visit their retail store at 426 E. Liberty St. Wooster, Ohio 44691. Then they are the one stop shop for everything firearms in Wayne county Ohio.

You can also visit them on Instagram @Instruments_of_Freedom or find them on Facebook at Instruments of Freedom.

Our guest today is Jake Bible. I've known Jake for a few years. I used to work out with his girlfriend and we all used to meet at the bar and have great conversations over a few beers. Jake has a wonderful outlook on life. He was involved in an extremely bad car accident about 10 years ago. The car accident left him in a coma for a few months. An experience like that can change your perspective on life. Now he's doing his best to make the most out of life.

During our conversation we mostly talked about the current Corona Virus Covid-19 outbreak. This is an interesting time that has affected all of our lives. Jake has been on the podcast a bunch because of our American Honesty segments. But this is the first time in a long time it was just the two of us sitting down to podcast. We definitely had a bunch to talk about with everything going on.

Jake is a CNC Hydromat Machinist. He is what I would call blue collar proud. Unfortunately it seems like today's society looks down on someone who doesn't have a college degree or a white collar job. But there's nothing wrong with working a blue collar job to provide for your family. We need those people doing what they do and they should be proud to do it.

Jake is very active politically and writes his opinions to the Letters to the Editor in the Medina Trading Post (ThePostNewspapers.com/Medina). He has been writing his letters to the editor for 4-5 years. In the beginning he was writing into the paper once a week. But after a complaint about certain people writing in too often, he now only writes in once a month. That's the most any one person is allowed.

Jake is a huge Cleveland sports fan. His favorite team is the Browns. Although he enjoys watching the Indians and the Cavs too. He's always talking about how the Browns will be have a better season, next year.

Today we mostly talked about the current and ongoing Coronavirus - COVID-19 outbreak. We are still in the beginning stages of the outbreak here in the US, but things are definitely getting very serious. We also talked a little bit about the presidential election as that's been in the news and things are getting crazy with that as well. As always we definitely didn't have a shortage of topics to discuss. Unfortunately the audio quality is not what I expect from our podcast. I messed up the recording options and didn't catch it until we had finished recording. We decided to post the podcast as is and not re-record it. So please forgive me for the poor quality of the audio on this one. It definitely won't happen again.

Bryan Carpenter was able to join us today for our conversation. Bryan is a former active duty Marine who got blown up by an I.E.D in 2006. All that he wanted in his life was to join the US Military. Bryan had plenty of trouble before he was finally able to join the Military and unfortunately has had even more trouble after due to his accident while serving our country. Today Bryan will tell his story in hopes that others will benefit from his struggles. Hopefully you will enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

Bryan has also written a book, The Never-Ending Battle After Iraq – A Marine's Road To Recovery, telling his story. You can find that on Amazon as an E-book. You can also get in touch with him on his author's page on Facebook. Or you can look him up on Instagram @BCarpenter6606.

We have back with us today one of our favorite guests Andrew Hoffman. It's been a while since we've done a podcast one on one. Andrew has been on a bunch for the American Honesty podcasts, but we both wanted to get together and do one with just the two of us. Andrew really opened up on this episode and let us know some things he struggles with. We had a great conversation that I hope everyone can take something away from.

I met Andrew when I started Crossfit. We worked out together and hung out with mutual friends outside of the gym. I was invited to a group chat that a couple of them had started at the gym called the “bro pit”. That's what we called the regular gym area outside of the Crossfit area where we were all working out. The four of us from the “bro pit” would get together and have fun outings away from the gym laughing until our faces hurt. I'm hoping to have a bro pit podcast in the future where we all get a little too drunk and laugh until we all hurt.

Andrew was very excited when I told him I was starting the podcast. He has offered to help me with technical issues. Which is good because I'm clueless when it comes to technology. Andrew owns and runs his own business.

You can find him on twitter @adh_79 where he can usually be found re-tweeting very offensive posts.

Ethan Frontz from Instruments of Freedom decided to join us today for our conversation. On today's episode we talked about Toxic Masculinity. This is a topic that Ethan was interested in talking about. It's also a topic that I personally didn't know too much about, but was interested to hear what everyone had to say. We all definitely had a great time on this episode. Hopefully you will enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

We have back with us today my friend Agent Tom. Tom is a federal agent. Although he is unable to talk about most of his work for the man, he is able to talk in generalities of some of the things he has done as an agent.

Today Tom and I started our conversation talking about the outdoor activities we both participated in recently. Tom and his wife went kayaking the day before we sat down and he was quite sore from it, lol. I have picked back up mountain biking after years off of the sport with some friends from work. We both agreed that getting out into nature has almost become a must in our lives. We spend too much time indoors and disconnected from nature. I know that I feel better when I get out into the woods and go for a ride. After a short time we started talking about firearms training as that's a big part of what Tom does with his agency. We had a great conversation that I really enjoyed.

Tom joined the Army right after high school. He was deployed over seas shortly after boot camp and spent most of his military career over seas. On today's episode we wanted to talk about Drugs. This is a topic that I've wanted to cover for a while now. When people think of drugs I think they usually think of illegal drugs. But there are a bunch of different kind of drugs. Drugs are anything that alter you mind. We are all pretty addicted to things that alter our minds. We definitely had a great time on this show. Hopefully you will enjoy this conversation as much as we did.

On today's episode we had plenty of things to talk about. Starting with Andrews run in with the Twitter guidelines and rules board. Next we talked about fanatic sports fans, but I was out voted on that topic. Then we got into the recent mass shooting and gun control. It was definitely a fun conversation like always with these two. I always look forward to the three of us getting together. My face usually hurts after the podcast is over from smiling so much. Hopefully you will enjoy this conversation as much as we did.
