Meet Brooklyn's celebrated, leading engineer in hair removal, my one-of-a-kind friend Uncle Nat (they/them).

They are the Owner and Creative Director for a hair removal + facial lounge known as Uncle Nat’s, located in Brooklyn, New York. Uncle Nat’s challenges the outdated and non-inclusive norms of salon culture; this space provides comfort and safety for those often overlooked or underserved. Fat, trans, disabled people, and anyone who doesn’t fit the mold, are always welcomed at Uncle Nat’s. 

This layered conversation has it all: tales from the salon world in the 80s, Nat's previous career in music, why they're taking back the word “uncle,” their journey of transitioning later in life, the genesis of their gender-affirming business, and why community building is imperative, to tease a few.

They are a wealth of knowledge, a champion for many underserved communities, a savvy entrepreneur and a damn hoot to chat with.
