In this story, Uncle Wiggily the rabbit and his cat friend want to have a picnic but worry their friends are too far away to invite. They meet a lonely July bug (who hatched late and is shunned by June bugs) who offers to quickly fly and deliver invitations if he can join the picnic. The bug successfully gathers many of Uncle Wiggily's animal friends, and they all enjoy a delightful picnic together. When two bad foxes try to attack the party, the brave little July bug saves the day by buzzing fiercely and scaring them away, proving that kindness and inclusion are rewarded and even the smallest among us can be courageous heroes.
