In this charming tale, Uncle Wiggily Longears, the kindly rabbit gentleman, and his housekeeper Nurse Jane are invited to a party, but a series of helpful diversions ensue. After forgetting his dancing shoes, Uncle Wiggily encounters the Man from Bombay (from the nursery rhyme), distressed because a snipe playfully stole his pipe. While trying to sort this out, Uncle Wiggily gets a painful sliver in his paw, putting him in trouble too. Fortuitously, the very same snipe appears, wanting to return the pipe; it helps Uncle Wiggily by removing the sliver with its sharp beak, and in return, Uncle Wiggily directs the snipe back to the Man from Bombay, resolving everyone's difficulties through mutual kindness and allowing the rabbit and muskrat to finally enjoy the party.
