In this gentle story, Uncle Wiggily the rabbit ventures out despite his rheumatism to visit Grandfather Goosey Gander, breaking his crutch along the way. He's kindly helped by a travelling tinker and his son Tommie, who repair the crutch. Later, returning the favour, Uncle Wiggily finds a distressed Tommie whose dog, Bow-Wow-Wow, has run off into the woods; using a bone gifted by Grandpa Goosey, Uncle Wiggily locates the lost dog, reuniting the pair and demonstrating the reciprocal nature of kindness and the importance of helping others in trouble.
