January 01, 2019#53 — What do Vegetables, Skate Skiing + Purple Cows all have in common? Seth Godin! How do remarkable leaders structure their lives to generate remarkable results? “Management and leadership are really different things. Leadership is what we call it when we do something that may not work, and when we are not worried about compliance, but we are worried about change instead. And so I have tried very hard to organize my life where I can’t spend much time managing, because if you can spend your day managing your email and telling people what to do, it is safer than leading” This week on Uncorked, Seth and Steph rif on how food choices, movement and reinventing the team meeting can make you a more remarkable leader in 2019. —Resources: + Seth’s Kitchen Essentials: 1. December 11, 2018#51 — Surviving and the Holi-daze w/ Matt + StephDon’t wait until 2019 to start manifesting your best, most conscious, thriving self. This week on #Uncorked, Matt + Steph break down the behaviours, actions and habits that one can cultivate to #finishstrong, and to enter the new year feeling refreshed, prepared and excited to tackle those juicy 2019 goals. Matt + Steph’s tips to stay on top of your game this Holiday Season: 1. Stick to your movement routine, stay consistent, and take advantage of any extra opportunities to get up and move. 2. Travel with your running shoes + fit in what you can. Be kind and forgive yourself if your training sessions aren’t what you are used to. 3. Make nourishing food a priority. When you are not at holiday parties or social gatherings, be extra mindful of what you put on your plate. 4. Clean up your space before travelling — come home to a clean home + office.5. Stock your pantry with healthy staples + order fresh groceries to be delivered for when you return home. 6. Cut back on animal products and be mindful of consumption in all areas. 7. Focus on conscious gift giving, avoid trinkets, and prioritize experiences over things. 8. Send a sweet note in the post and let someone know you care.9. Donate to your local homeless shelter as temperatures plummet.10. Reduce waste and avoid single-use plastic. Don’t make it the season of excuses, plastic cutlery, and paper plates. 11. And if you only do one thing, stay present. December 04, 2018# 50: How to use comparison to make yourself and your life better w/ Liam + Angus Todd“There is nothing either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so” — William Shakespeare Brené Brown says; “stay in your lane. Comparison kills joy and creativity”, but this week on #Uncorked, twins, Liam and Angus Todd challenge this notion, and describe how a life of comparison has allowed them to challenge their perceived limitations and to ultimately become better versions of themselves. The duo recognize the inevitability of comparison, and choose to use it as a means of improvement, while remaining humble and recognizing their place as one (or two) in 7.5 billion. ** For sensitive ears — some f-bombs are dropped alongside #truthbombs throughout this episode Resources: Grit — by Angela Duckworth The Gifts of Imperfection — by Brene BrownThis or That | Quick-fire Questions with the Todd brothers! November 20, 2018# 48 — Using Choice to Turn Noes into Yeses with Cynthia Vuchev, General Manager of SoulCycle Canada"I believe if you pressure people to do what they don't want to do, if you make them feel guilty and tell them that they should do things, then they don't do them, and they actually do the opposite. If you respect their decisions and give them time to settle with what you have requested, or asked, or what you have put on the table, they often become more open and can make the choice for themselves" For Cynthia Vuchev, it took one yoga class, one early morning run, and one documentary to change her life. On the mic with Steph today, she shares the biggest transformation she’s experienced, how she wants to make a difference, and how giving people (like her husband) choice, gives them the space to do things they never thought possible.
