Alice Pelton is the founder of The Lowdown, the world's first peer-to-peer review website for methods of contraception. Her mission is to change the way that women choose their contraception. She believes in the power of data, collected from real women, to paint a comprehensive picture on one of the most important topics when it comes to female health.
Like most women, it took Alice Pelton over a decade to realise the impact that taking hormonal contraceptives had on her emotional and mental state. In her search for the right contraception she came across a number of problems which eventually became the foundation of The Lowdown.
In this episode, Alice shares more on the driving force behind The Lowdown - namely the long term impact of different contraceptive methods, what women's experiences are with these methods and the after effects of contraception on the body and mind.
We talk about the different methods available on the market today and what the data trends are showing to attempt to answer one of the most pressing questions for women today - how are hormones affecting your body chemistry?
Alice discusses the challenges in this space as well as the evolution of the conversation around birth control thanks for trustworthy resources such as The Lowdown.
You can learn more about different methods of contraception here and anonymously review any method of contraception here.
