Under Rated

Today I interview Dave Lindeque and explore his story, from a role in finance in South Africa, to his big move to the United States where he moved to managing product at a top tech company. I feel this story will resonate with those who are intrigued by, or interested in, making a leap into a new city or career!

On this episode, I interview Dr Nicholas Gruen, one of Speedlancer’s investors and advisors. He is most known as a prominent economist, and I turned to him in this discussion for his thoughts on modern monetary policies during a tumultuous 2020, given the Covid-19 pandemic. We also touched on the promise of Bitcoin, and how it fits into the picture. I hope you enjoy!

(Recorded Dec, 2020)

On this episode, I interview CNN Hero and fellow Forbes 30 Under 30 Zach Wigal about his commitment to Not For Profit causes. As the founder and CEO of GamersOutreach, an organisation that provides video games to children in hospital, I learned about what motivates him and more about his charity and how they impact 1.25M children every year.

Anti-vaxxers suck, so I thought to record my Uber driver ranting about his unwillingness to vaccinate his children, in an attempt to dissuade others from following his thought process. In a break from the 'Australia' theme of this first season of Under Rated, please 'enjoy' this bonus episode.

I talk to my parents, entrepreneurs Sharon and Adrian Stone about their adventures in business, what it was like to be an entrepreneur in the 80s and 90s and about how taking risk can be the panacea.

Pioneer of online retailing in Australia, Mike Rosenbaum talks to me about the early days of Deals Direct and looks back on the process of completing a backdoor listing that saw it become the first pure-play online retailer on the ASX.

Natasha Westheimer created her own major in college and now works in Water Management in Jerusalem. Working with a UN-affiliated agency, she specialises in managing conflict around the environment, Israel-Palestine relations, and trans-boundary water management.

Sam Barton is an Australian philosopher living in Sydney, Australia; he speaks to me about his ambitions for a planet without borders and the philosophy of philosophy.

Sam doesn’t call himself a professional gambler but he’s been making a living through betting on horses since he was a schoolboy. Spiritual in his lifestyle, yet wholly scientific in his approach to gambling, he speaks to me about his methods and why they work.
