People who are going to be there for you when maybe your mental health isn’t the best or who aren’t going to be bad influences when it comes to drugs and alcohol or who may give you real honest feedback on whatever project that you are working on because they actually give a shit and want to see you succeed. But sometimes it’s tough to choose these people, especially if you are a touring artist and going out every weekend and all your friends want to do is turn up. But let's face it, those friends who you can’t spend any time with sober aren’t the real friends that you want to surround yourself with anyways…

So who are the right people to surround yourself with so that you don’t get caught up in all the bullshit? Well our guest on the show today who goes by Autokorekt is here to answer that. As most of you know, if you have been following the podcast for a while, I am very passionate about mental health and the different ways people have managed to get through challenging times in their lives. Because I have personally gone through hard times and I’m sure you have gone through your own set of challenging times that we probably couldn’t have gotten through without some sort of work to get through it. 

So, when I invited Soundr to be our guest on the podcast, I was stoked to hear that she wanted to share her journey with mental health and what tools that she uses to get through her challenges. In her case, there were 2 main things that have aided her along this journey. One of them being routine sessions with a therapist, which is one of my particular favorites, and the other is actually something that I had never heard of which is called EMDR. So, what in the hell is EMDR you ask? Well, Soundr explains exactly what that is and how it has specifically helped in her own life/career by the end of this episode!

I’m finding that the more producers that I talk to, the more I realize how introverted many of them are. And being in an industry that survives on networking and who you know, it is sometimes really challenging to put yourself out there and get to know other people. And this is what RAK, who is a part of the Later Tonight crew, has releases on Subsidia, Rude Service, 40oz Cult, and who is also our guest on the show today, had to overcome on his journey in order to find success in his career. When he first told me that this was his main challenge that he’s had to face, I thought he meant that he didn’t have confidence in his producing or performing. But it ended up being that he originally just didn’t have the confidence within himself to introduce himself and build the relationships that he needed to become successful.

Since January he has grown his instagram page almost 30 thousand followers, which is absolutely insane. But, he says that his biggest hurdle that came along with all of his success was realizing the more successful he got, the more hatred that came along with it.
