Scripture: Job, Ecclesiastes, Psalm 39, "Ever had doubts that kept you up at night? You aren't alone, and the Bible includes a record of this same doubt among God's own people. In this lecture, Dr. Mallinson explores an uncomfortable side of biblical faith: perplexity and frustrations we face when God seems hidden. By exploring anti-wisdom, one sees the beauty of the good news more clearly. As Luther said, taught, we can't stay in this place where things seem meaningless. But unless we confront our current anxieties and experiences, as did the biblical sages of old, we will have a hard time finding hope and healing. One might say this is a reflection on the existential law, as a precursor to the hope found in the Gospel's new logic. We take a look at Job, Ecclesiastes, and Psalm 39 in particular."
