Romans 8:30 teaches the GOLDEN Chain of Redemption

God foreknowing His people in eternity past means that He set His electing love on them in a covenant relationship. It speaks more of the choosing of sinners to be saved. God predestined His people in eternity past, meaning that His preordained plan will certainly and infallibly come to pass according to His sovereign will.

Those God foreknew and predestined, He also CALLED.

When that foreknown, chosen, predestined sinner hears the gospel call given outwardly through the preaching of the gospel, God also does an internal, effectual call that PRODUCES by grace the faith and repentance needed to come to Christ.

Those whom God sovereignly and effectually calls will exercise saving faith and thus be justified.

When did God’s foreknowing occur? In eternity past. When did God’s predestining occur? In eternity past.

When did God’s calling occur? At a point in time when you were born again

When did God’s justifying you occur? When you had faith in Jesus.

When will you be glorified? In the future! It hasn’t happened yet.

From eternity past to eternity future, God has sovereignly ordained and planned out to the most minute detail your salvation.

Meekness is not natural. This goes against everything in our American culture and in human nature to be meek. 

The third Beatitude can be summed up in this statement: Those who act as if they are nothing will, in the end, possess everything.

The world doesn’t understand meekness. We as Christians don’t understand meekness. Why would those who act like they are nothing actually in the end possess everything?

Why is it a blessing to mourn? How will we be comforted? What does it truly mean to mourn?

Dr. Sean Cole teaches two truths from this passage in Romans:

The Spirit helps us when we struggle with prayer (vs. 26-27), and God is absolutely sovereign over all things. (vs. 28)

He also discusses THREE fences or truths that QUALIFY God’s decree, so we hold to what the Bible says and avoid faulty thinking.

Fence One:  God is NOT the author or direct cause of sin.

Fence Two: God’s absolute decree does not violate man’s free will, as he is still responsible and acts according to his nature.

Fence Three: God uses secondary causes to accomplish His decree.
