Rowan Sanderson sits down with Billy Hoekman, Director of Nutrition Science at Answers Pet Food. He speaks to us about being the only company in America to produce fermented raw pet food.
Billy describes the many benefits of feeding your dog all-fermented meats, vegetables, and milk. Fermenting dog food preserves and exponentially increases the amount of enzymes, vitamins, and other nutrients found in it. He notes that “Food in your refrigerator is good for a week.” That food has about 2.5 billion probiotics on average from the food matrixes that were added to it. When you leave it out at room temperature for 48 hours, that number shoots up to 12 billion probiotics per ounce of food.
