“Sometimes it takes looking back to finally realize how much you’ve given up because of that…” - Dr. Thao
We pulled the curtain back a bit on Pelvic Floor dysfunction talking about how much the small things really matter. We talked about how to talk about sex, and giving words to the things we are feeling.
We talked about gaining understanding about our bodies, and figuring out how to get help. We addressed the unrealistic timelines that women of all ages experience.
May this be the beginning of the conversation you've been waiting to have with your spouse, your doctor, or your friend.
People are living with pelvic floor dysfunctions, such as incontinence, constipation, pain with sex, pain with menstrual cycles, etc. If you experience any of these potentially debilitating symptoms of pelvic floor weakness, that can affect the quality of your daily life, something can be done! If you've noticed something that doesn't feel like it's a big deal, but you've made some significant change once you start feeling, that is a big deal.
This is a clip from the Stimulate Summit Session: Understanding Pelvic Floor Health with Dr. Thao, PT, DPT : @drthaodpt - https://www.instagram.com/drthaodpt/
Serving as the “foundation” of the house, our pelvic floor encompasses a sling of muscles and connective tissues. It essentially supports our organs, including bladder, intestines, sexual reproductive organs, and fallopian tube, maintaining control of bowel and bladder movements. If anything goes wrong with the foundation, the entire house (body) is impacted.
Dr. Thao helps us understand the essentials of pelvic floor health for wives (and husbands).
