Jesus was on a quest, not simply for believers, but He was on a quest for Discipleship. There is a difference between giving mental assent which is called Salvation, and truly being convert - being changed to follow Jesus Christ. The tendency most people have is to cast judgment on a person for what they say or do, or because of some external factor or outward appearance. Although the Bible is not a history book, it does contain an interaction with historical events that are taking place. History provides context and context provides meaning.
