• Feeding - know what is nutritionally effective for your mules.
• Tack & Equipment - mohair - alpaca girths are ideal equipment.
• Keep your leather tack CLEAN to prevent rubbing and sores.
• Select a crupper made from English bridle leather so it will break under extreme pressure.  
• Biothane and Nylon do not warm up with elasticity and flexibility like leather does.
• Proper adjustment of the cruppers & breeching. 
• Weight & ability of the rider will affect the shift of the saddle.  
• Crupper or Breeching? Cruppers stabilize the saddle better with human riders. 
• Cruppers allow for better range of motion in the quine, especially in the hind legs for uphill climbing. 
• Breeching can restrict the hind legs too much when ascending and put the equine off balance. 
• Breeching can be used effectively with inanimate loads. 
• Breeching has more straps and more risk of chafing than does a crupper.
