Being a Blacksmith and metal worker, Simone offers his insights into the nature of Metal, the forge, its qualities and virtues in its various physical and mythic forms as Primal Matter.

In this, our first and very special episode of 2025, the Hadean podcast goes on an adventure of academia to the Spanish city of Cuenca with Erzebet and José Leitão, who, over food and drinks, describe recent discoveries in the understudied field of Portuguese Learned magic.

José describes to us the beautiful melancholia of his time doing archival research, the lows and highs of the discovery of long forgotten manuscripts and the story of how he came to make some exceptional findings.

In this month’s episode we introduce Vanessa Irena, author of ‘Ecstasy, A devotional guide to the female mystics’, one of Hadean Press’ Guides to the Underworld.

Vanessa and I discuss her personal experience of negotiating and re-contextualising her relationship with Catholicism, specifically by exploring the female mystics of medieval Europe.

Vanessa’s work offers us a unique window into a living and enfleshed Christian experience, which, far from denying the material body, is instead vitalised within it, as the vehicle through which divinity is experienced. This is a queer, erotic and transgressive mysticism, centred upon the women who reclaimed their autonomy from the strictures of medieval society and independently explored the divine to become some of the most phenomenal women in European history.

In this month’s episode we are very honoured to have David Rankine, author of the Grimoire Encyclopaedia, return to the podcast to discuss his latest book, Claves Intelligentiarum, A Complete Practical Manual of Conjuration of the Planetary Intelligences.

Utilising his extensive practical knowledge, honed over four decades of practice, David has brought together a text which guides the aspiring Solomonic magician through the process of conjuration of the seven planetary Intelligences as first outlined by Cornelius Agrippa in his Three Books of Occult Philosophy.

In this episode we discuss David’s inspiration for creating the book, how he approached the work of the modern grimoire revivalist in synthesising a historically attested and complete process for the conjuration. The nature of the Intelligences, and manner in which their seals are produced, as well as David being the first person to publish the corrected seals of these spirits since they were first printed some 500 years ago.

In this month’s podcast we present the world’s most notorious marzipancer, Simon Dyda, author of, ‘Ars Rosaria - The Rosary Art of Conjuration’, part of Hadean’s Guides to the Underworld series. Simon is a veteran British magician with many years spent as an itinerant musician, now living in Berlin.
