Hello Ladies & Gentlemen, Welcome to the Undisputed Wrestling Podcast.
Welcome to our podcast series called "Wrestling With Film" where every month we'll be reviewing a movie that has featured professional wrestlers.
"The Undisputed Rev" James Woolford is joined by "John Cena's Biggest Fan" Callum Hogan to review the 2005 film Doom that featured Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Doom is a 2005 science-fiction horror film based on the video game Doom 3. It was released on October 21, 2005 in North America and December 2, 2005 in the United Kingdom. The DVD was released on February 7, 2006, and the Blu-Ray version was released on February 10, 2009.
The film's production budget was $60 million. It received mostly poor reviews, eventually settling at 19% on Rotten Tomatoes's Tomatometer, and grossed $28 million domestically and $56 million worldwide at the box office. Due to the film's failure, a second Doom movie was eventually cancelled. However, a second film was in the planning stages by 2018.
A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge (The Rock), is sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm (Rosamund Pike), who is related to team member Reaper (Karl Urban), informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters -- and is highly infectious.
