Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. It's been awhile. Life has been changing for me, and it's all great changes. In today's episode I tackle the now common phrase of "It isn't a religion, it's a relationship." While I do believe that to be true (we do have relationship with God through Christ), we are also to follow the laws of God through religion. Religion is often seen as a dirty word, but they both go hand in hand and are healthy when done right, and that's what we're going to have a little conversation about.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. This episode is a little different today. We're not having a normal conversation, instead we are talking about the direction we are going on this podcast. We're shifting gears a little bit to make the podcast more expansive and in some ways, more fun. Take a listen, and hop on board for what we have next in store.
Welcome to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. It's been a minute, but I'm glad to be back with some more conversation. This one being one that has kind of stayed on the lips of Christians since the pandemic started, and I don't blame them. I believe that we should look to God in every circumstance, because in Him we can find peace and hope for what's to come. However I don't think we should use that fact as a tool to shame brothers and sisters. We all fear something, that much is true, and that's why I believe we should all come alongside one and another and lift each other up at all times in a world that is constantly trying to do the opposite.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. I've been away for a few weeks, but I'm back and this time to just talk... Can we talk? There's been so much going on in the world today. So many differing opinions, so many headlines, so many positions to take on so many issues that I feel like I'm going insane. There is so much twisting of the Word, so little knowledge of the Word, and so much deceit going on in and around that church that I just don't know where to begin, but it's been really bringing me down the last couple of weeks. I just want to talk, vent, and maybe gather my thoughts a little bit for the next few episodes to come.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. As we finished the "Jesus Is NOT Your..." miniseries, we're going to start looking at some topics or "buzzwords" that we can use a little bit of brushing up on. We're kicking it off with "love," and how we can love everyone despite not agreeing with them, despite persecution, despite understanding what they're going through, and how this is the greatest commandment for a reason. Who are we without love? Who do people think we are without love? What do we look like without love? Well... let's have that conversation.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. In this episode we're exploring the rarely talked about issue of Patriotic Christianity (Christian Nationalism) and how it tunnels our view on God, His lordship over all creation, and our view of people around us. There's nothing wrong with loving where you live and your heritage, but there's an odd twisting of theology with patriotism that's been on the rise for over 50 years in America and it's been on full throttle over the last 10 years. As Christians now more than ever, we have to take a step back and reassess who we pledge our allegiance to; that way we can further the gospel to all creation - as we are commanded - with no prejudices or lines drawn between us and others. I pray that you have soft hearts and ears to take in this conversation, listen to what's said, and reflect on what this means to you or to others that you may know that are dealing with this issue.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. Today we're looking at the prosperity gospel and how it leads people astray from what the Gospel actually teaches us. We look at the teachings of " Your Best Life Now," and how that's contrary to what we see in Scripture. I list off a few prosperity teachers to be weary of. Lastly we look at scripture to see what it teaches us about how this life is not full of prosperity, how it can be quite the opposite, but how we should look forward to the promise we have in Christ for eternity with him. How many people do you know that have fallen to the lies of looking at Jesus as a genie that's here to grant all our wishes? Are you following a prosperity preacher? Does someone you know and love follow a prosperity preacher? I pray this episode causes you to look inward and outward to save those who are headed down a path that's separate from the path that Jesus calls us to!
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. Today we have our first guest, Parker Wyatt, on to talk about a topic that we both found very funny, which is the sub-genre of worship music I like to call "Jesus is my boyfriend." This episode was really fun to just sit and talk about worship music and a few things surrounding that. We looked at a few songs and lyrics, we talked about leading worship, blurring lines between worship and secular music, and how we can love Jesus with the proper love that He is worthy of from us. We really hope you enjoy this podcast episode, and it maybe makes you think of how you love Jesus.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. In this episode we're starting a micro series about who Jesus isn't. The groundwork of the series is laid out by my lead pastor, Pastor Ryan. He preached a sermon this past Sunday that was in my heart, but I couldn't quite vocalize it like he did. I'm excited to take a look at modern culture and church culture as well, and see how we can go about changing what we think of Jesus and lining it up with what scripture actually says about Jesus. Hope you enjoy this podcast and the conversations to come.
Welcome back to the Uneasy Conversations... In Jesus' Name podcast. In this episode, we're looking at how we can find people where they're at, what it looks like to break down barriers in people's lives, and how we shouldn't be afraid to be seen in the places that those people are at IF we're actively trying to bring them to Jesus. We look at how Jesus found people where they were, how Jesus actively looked for those people, and how Paul would find himself in other's places for the sake of the Gospel. Shouldn't we also try to find ourselves in those places, in those hard conversations, in those uncomfortable settings? How else would those who don't know Christ come to know Christ, if we're not actively getting our hands dirty to get them out from where they are? I pray this episode finds you at a place where you're at, where you're coming from, or where you may hope to lead others to.
