Erika Oldham, Founder of Chic Sugars, epitomizes the pivot! Determined not to spend $500 to purchase a specialty cake for her daughter's birthday, she taught herself how to make a cake by watching Youtube videos. Inspired by the television show Cake Boss, she turned her passion for baking into an extremely successful business which now employs multiple people and creates beautiful cakes. Erika is also know as the celebrity baker and has made cakes for Jay Z, Nikki Minaj and Missy Elliott to name a few.
Erika was homeless, living in a car prior to becoming a social worker. After the social work, she went to law school, and later started Chic Sugars in 2009. Erika is such an inspiration and with a kind heart, she also partnered with “The Birthday Cake “ a charitable organization that provides monthly customized cakes for children in homeless shelters.
Erika was determined to win and she has - against all odds! Check out her amazing story!
Omar- The King of British R&B has cemented his place in the music history books. He’s been creating music for 35 years and his sound is just as fresh today as it was back then. Omar took some time to chat with us from his London home about his career, process, how being a girl dad changed his approach and how he’s been able to pivot during this insane year. He spoke about the classic song- “There’s Nothing Like This”, the inspiration behind it and how it’s still as fresh to the ear after 30 years.
On this episode of the Comeback kids we sit down and talk to @greatdhane a seasoned advertising executive who opens up about his drive, his motto on chasing discomfort and how at a young age he knew exactly what career path he was on. From leading the Mars account at one of NYC largest agencies BBDO to taking a global role in London our conversation with Dhane left us in awe. Living by his motto, he left a cushy role where he was the youngest EVP, managing the global Coca-Cola account and joined Google as the Global Consumer Marketing Lead for Pixel phone in the tech space something totally unfamiliar to him. If you need a pick me or some motivation to BE GREAT, you must tune in. #Business #Success #Wealth #Marketing #Entrepreneur #Story
On this episode, Yandy discusses the ups and downs of starting her own skincare line- Yelle Skincare (@yelleskincare) and how Covid INCREASED her sales (Comeback Kid)!!
⠀
She also talks about how her husband’s (@Mandeeces) arrest and incarceration motivated her to get involved with activism (@UntilFreedom) (and get arrested herself protesting Breonna Taylor’s murder in Kentucky).
⠀
Yandy gives invaluable advice about the power of PERSISTENCE, never taking a “No” personally and living your dream despite the fear. As Yandy says “do it scared but do it”.
Lots of jewels on this one! Yandy was raw, delightfully vulnerable. Link in bio! 🔥🚀
