When we hear the words Artificial Intelligence or AI, they stir both great hope and understandable fear. AI focuses on creating intelligent machines that can recognize speech, and objects, can learn and improve their effectiveness, plan and solve problems – that emulate the way humans do these things. Ai is already generating buzz with the escalation of machine learning tools like ChatGPT4. It provides promises of breakthroughs in many areas of life like healthcare, business efficiency, transportation, etc. Yet, recently (100) AI leaders signed a letter asking that advanced AI research be halted for 6 months because of its potential dangers and the lack of regulatory oversight.
For my 10th show, I am honored to be joined in this conversation by an expert in the AI field, Justin Grammens. Justin is the founder and CEO of Lab651. Lab651 help business leaders to successfully build and launch their software products with a proven system and a top-tier crew of software development experts. He also has launched Recursive Awesome, IoT & Artificial Intelligence Weekly News, and co-founded AppliedAI and Captovation. But what there’s more, Justin is also the creator, producer, and host of the AppliedAI Podcast, the 501(c)(3) non-profit Emerging Technologies North, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saint Thomas. Clearly, he brings much mastery to our conversation on one of the most important subjects of our time.

We hear a lot about the critical nature of resilience for executives leading today’s organizations. In this podcast, I am joined by a fellow Executive Coach and former Whole Foods Executive, Dan Blackburn, to discuss the importance of resilience in the executive suite. The podcast defines resilience, what it takes to engage and retain it, and why executives must prioritize resilience if they expect to manifest great results for themselves and those they lead.
Dan’s strong mix of experience as a wellness expert and former executive brings a profound yet practical perspective on what it takes to succeed in the executive suite during these increasingly disruptive and uncertain times.

Neuroscience says that 95% plus of the time, we are on auto pilot and that, in most cases, what appears to be a conscious decision happens below the level of consciousness before the decision is consciously made. How do we tap into the vast and profound power of the unconscious to serve us in our efforts to turn our visions into reality and achieve success as executive leaders? In this podcast, Anatoly Yakorev and I explore this deep and compelling subject with practical suggestions for leveraging your unconscious mind.

In the pre-pandemic world, many referred to our times as VUCA, which means volatile, uncertain, chaotic, and ambiguous. The past three years have made things even more turbulent. Before the pandemic, people were warned about the harmful effects of toxic work environments on our humanity and soul. Dr. Rosie Ward is a pioneer in this field and joins me on the podcast to discuss the importance of rehumanizing the workplace. We will explore ways to ignite more extraordinary passion, resilience, innovation, productivity, and organizational performance. Additionally, we will discuss how organizations can promote safety and empowerment in an increasingly divided world.

In this episode, I revisit the foundational and most critical element of leadership development - the engagement of one's self-leadership. Another word I will use interchangeably with self-leadership is self-mastery. As the words imply - self-leadership is about leading yourself - which entails understanding your vision for your impact, understanding and leveraging what motivates you to inspire action, attending to self-care, and holding yourself accountable nonjudgmentally to ensure your actions are aligned or in integrity with your aspirations. I trust you will find value in revisiting this foundational aspect of BEING a leader.

In our last podcast, Anatoly Yakorev and l discussed the intersection between leadership trust and ethics. During that conversation, we touched on the nature of leadership in the executive suite and how a large contingent that still defaults to a more autocratic style of leadership that drives results through fear. That said, we agreed that an enlightened approach to leading is what works far better to generate high-quality results, retain talent, and improve well-being at work.
Enlightened leaders have strong executive presence, are more visionary and strategic, exceptional in their conversational intelligence, and stellar in their ability to create alignment as well as to attract and retain talent. All of this results in maximizing their ability to create value and generate outstanding results for their organizations, at a level no autocratic leader can generate.
I invited Anatoly back for this conversation to dive deeper into this and explore the value of an enlightened approach to leadership and what an executive must do to develop into a more enlightened leader.
