Leonora MacKinnon is an olympic fencer who specializes in the épée discipline; Leonora has an amazing family story, which made her start competing for Great Britain, before switching to represent Canada at international events.

We talk about her fencing journey, the injuries that slowed her down chasing her goals, and prevented her from being funded by different organizations, and also more broadly about fencing, a sport that is really under-covered by the media.

I met Crystal Emmanuel, at the Track and Field Center in Toronto, where she was recovering from a harmstring injury at the time of the recording. As the 200m Canadian record holder, Crystal is a symbol of perseverance and courage; at 31, she already participated in 3 Olympics, and she is still running for medals and records, eyeing the upcoming World championships and the 2024 Paris Olympics. She is also opening up on her childhood, and the projects she will undertake after her career.

Ahmed Hill is player for the Montreal Alliance, the Montreal-based basketball team from the CEBL, the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Just a few days ago, he became the first player in the CEBL’s history to score 1,000 points.

After a childhood in a small football-focused town in Georgia, USA, Ahmed became a dad when he was in college, and he decided to put all his efforts into making it to the elite level, and be able to provide for his little princess.
