This is my Black Lives Matter Statement.
Unfolding Destiny is my channel that speaks to Identity, and I want to use this channel today to discuss what I am personally doing to help level of the playing field for all races and backgrounds.
I may not be able to solve all the problems when it comes to race, but I can at least make a contribution that will hopefully transform the world.
As I was thinking about how to form my words, the one thing I kept thinking to myself was, "Will another post really change the world? Will me posting about BLM really make a difference?"
And, in hindsight, of course- of course posting about it makes a difference; bringing the idea of BLM to critical mass is extremely important, and if enough people are talking about it, then change can take.
However, I wanted to do something even more measurable, something that could truly add a +1 to the topic already being discussed.
My belief is that Identity is the one thing that will bring people together, and that if we can begin to see each other at the level of identity, then we can transcend the things that keep us apart.
Race, Ethnicity, Sexuality, Gender, Nationality, and Culture are incredibly important, but they should not be the lens through which we decide whether or not we should treat someone different from us as an equal.
I believe that if we can bring people to see each other through the lens of identity, then we will be able to align with the character that exists within each other.
And to that goal, I am developing a system of identity that can spread globally. When we solve problems at the level of a system, then true change can happen. And the system we need right now is one of universal identity, one in which people of diverse backgrounds can come together and still connect due to the contents of their character and not the color of their skin.
Losing weight requires different levels of mental toughness the leaner you get. When I was 229.3lbs, it took me a lot of work to get down to 175lbs, but I was not prepared for what I would need to go through once I wanted to drop below 175lbs. At that weight, it would take EVERYTHING in me to further transform my body. This is my story.
When you are going after your big, main, goal, what do you do about all the other goals that you have? Do you just ignore them? If you pursue them, will that pursuit take you away from your main mission?
You build something sustainable by shaping it around your narrative.
