As the 2019 school year begins the real impacts of Ford’s cuts are becoming clear:
● Funding cuts to education, there has been a 3% cut in per-student funding for all
school boards
● Larger classes
● Not enough student supports for special education and not enough education
assistants to support children with special needs
● Cuts to custodial staff resulting in classroom closures and unsafe buildings
● Schools going without enough office administrative staff
● Not enough specialist support psychologists, child and youth workers, or social
workers to nurture kids in need of support.
● Crowded high school classrooms with reports from students, families and
teachers that classrooms have as many as 46 students, resulting from teacher layoffs.
We say no more cuts. It's time for classroom teachers to fight back and build the schools our children deserve!
