2024 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Community Impact Award-Winner Carter Cunningham joins Ben Rekosh on Unique Pathways presented by H3 Sports for an in-depth conversation on a variety of topics. Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays organization in June, Cunningham has spent a majority of his time in Dunedin, Florida with the single-A team. Originally a native of Haymarket, he played for Coach Jay Burkhardt at Battlefield High School; committed to Gardner-Webb before his senior season, Cunningham would go on to play with three schools in five years. He talks about the impact that covid-19 had on his journey, the overall value of the transfer portal in the modern college athletics landscapes, and how his newfound faith has transformed his life. In addition to leading the East Carolina Pirates to an AAC Championship in 2024, he started the Homers That Help initiative and raised $50,000 for the ECU hospital. Rekosh closes out the interview by getting to know a bit of Cunningham’s personality, and he offers some wise words of advice to end the show.
