Are there spiritual Masters in the Unitarian Univeralist tradition? How does one find a spiritual teacher? What should a seeker be looking for? The walk with Love is the one taught by Jesus and requires an inward not an outward journey.

The fourth milestone on the walk with Love on the path of the spirit is gentleness. Gentleness can be understood as a quality of compassion which is named in the second principle of Unitarian Universalism as being worthy of affirmation and promotion. What is gentleness?

The third milestone on the Walk with Love, on the spiritual Path, is a nonjudgmental attitude. Carl Rogers called this "unconditional positive regard." We are not God. How can we know the heart, mind, and soul of another? We don't even understand our own heart, mind, and soul.

Jesus tells us that the way to the kingdom is "to love as I have loved." If we choose the path of the spirit over the path of the ego we embark on the walk with Love and pass several milestones. The first milestone on the walk with love is trust, and the second is honesty.

Disillusionment leads to "the dawning," which leads to "the turning" which leads to "the search" which takes one eventually on a mystical path which is the "Walk With Love" on the path of the spirit. The first milestone on this "Walk With Love" on the path of the spirit is trust and faith.

After disillusionment, the dawning, the turning, the search, the seeker winds up sooner or later on the "walk with Love." Jesus said that the way to the kingdom is "to love as I have loved."

After the dawning and the turning the individual begins a search for the Divine on the path of the spirit which often takes the seeker back to the religion of his/her childhood or into an exploration of new religions.

The search for the Divine in religions eventually leads to disillusionment and the seeker realizes that the Divine is a nonduality, a Oneness. The seeker then finds him.herself walking on the path of Love.

The spiritual life does not begin until the person steps off the path of the ego onto the path of the spiriit, This step follows a period of disillusionment which leads to the dawning on the person that there must be a better way for him/her to lead his/her life.

This dawning leads to a turning from the path of the ego onto the path of the spirit and this turning begins the search for the divine.

It dawns on the person that (s)he has a choice to continue on the path of the ego or turn onto the path of the spirit. This turning begins the search that may take one back to the religion of their childhood.

There is a difference between being religious and being spiritual. Increasingly on survey people report not being religious but continuing to be spiritual. what does this mean?
