We all, at one point or another, wonder if our lives have meaning. Why am I here? What is the point? Something’s missing. There's gotta be more than this.
When life slows down, when the screen goes dark between episodes when you’re binge watching Netflix, when the kids finger paint again with their own poo, when the project is done, when finals are over...we wonder.
Or it can be the monotony that gets to you, like finishing the dishes and the next day seeing both sides of the sink full, and the stove top. Or, as soon as you have a clothes folding session, there’s 3 more loads coming out. Lawn mowing every week, sitting in traffic or waiting for the bus, to get to the train, to get to another bus.
Whatever it is that gets us there, We all, at one point or another, wonder if our lives have meaning. This has been THE question of human existence forever, really. We just can’t seem to go about our business, do our boring routine and deal with it. It’s the reason every civilization has had some conception of God, something higher, something beyond the mundane. Because everyone wonders, at some point or another, if their lives have any meaning. The same question was being asked in Solomon’s day. And what we’re going to see in the first 11 verses of Ecclesiastes is that, life has no meaning
