Today we dig into some thoughts a couple listeners shared with us and Dorian digs into and clarifies what she meant in an earlier episode. We also discuss the difficulty of closing the racial divide with the feeling of not wanting to engage with the opposite race coming from both sides.

In this episode we process the slightly elevated intensity of our last episode and what we felt about it. As well as what our concerns were around sharing it with you, our listeners. The conversation leads into the topic of code switching and why we are hearing about it more and more in a negative light these days.

In part 2 things get a little heated while Kass and Dor revisit the conversation of cultural appropriation. Dorian is still having a tough time seeing It as a negative and feels the conversations of appropriation and discrimination need to be separated because it distracts from the real issue of racism getting discussed and dealt with.

Since last week Sgt. Mattingly, the officer who was shot during the police raid on Breonna Taylor’s home, sent an email to his entire police department. Also, the grand jury came back with their decision on indictments in the case. Kass and Dor discuss these today and really get into Kass’ raw emotions about this heavy topic.

This case made headlines several months ago and Kassándra has mentioned her name multiple times in other episodes. It was time we dedicated an episode directly to Breonna. In our first two part episode, Kassándra gives an in-depth explanation of cultural appropriation and why it's held in such a negative light for the black community. Dorian spends this episode taking in what Kass is saying, but struggling with the buy in to the negative aspect of this.
