  • Palm Sunday 2025

    John 12:12-19 NIV

    Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

    12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,

    “Hosanna![a]”

    “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[b]

    “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

    14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

    15

    “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;

       see, your king is coming,

       seated on a donkey’s colt.”[c]

    16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

    17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

  • In Good Hands

    Luke 23:44-46 NLT

    44 By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 45 The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. 46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!”[a] And with those words he breathed his last.

  • Our Need and God’s Satisfaction

    John 4:13-14

    13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

    John 7:37b-38

    37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”[a]

    Hebrews 9:26b-28a

    “But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice. And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people.”

    Colossians 2:13

    13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.

    Hebrews 10:17-18

    17 Then he says,

    “I will never again remember

    their sins and lawless deeds.”[a]

    18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

    Colossians 2:14

    14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

    Personal version of Colossians 2:14 “He canceled the record of the charges against ME and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”

  • God Is with Us

    John 19:26-27

    26 When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” 27 And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

    Luke 2:34b-35

    “He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. 35 As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”

    Matthew 26:56b

    “At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled.”

    1 John 4:7-10

    7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

    9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

    Mark 15:34 ESV

    34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

    Psalm 22:1-10 ESV

    My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

    Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?

    2 O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer,

    and by night, but I find no rest.

    3 Yet you are holy,

    enthroned on the praises of Israel.

    4 In you our fathers trusted;

    they trusted, and you delivered them.

    5 To you they cried and were rescued;

    in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

    6 But I am a worm and not a man,

    scorned by mankind and despised by the people.

    7 All who see me mock me;

    they make mouths at me; they wag their heads;

    8 “He trusts in the Lord; let him deliver him;

    let him rescue him, for he delights in him!”

    9 Yet you are he who took me from the womb;

    you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts.

    10 On you was I cast from my birth,

    and from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

    Psalm 22:23-24 ESV

    You who fear the Lord, praise him!

    All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him,

    and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!

    24 For he has not despised or abhorred

    the affliction of the afflicted,

    and he has not hidden his face from him,

    but has heard, when he cried to him.

  • A Desperately Needed Word- Forgiveness

    Luke 23:33-43 (Words 1 and 2)

    33 When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left.

    34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.

    35 The crowd watched and the leaders scoffed. “He saved others,” they said, “let him save himself if he is really God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” 36 The soldiers mocked him, too, by offering him a drink of sour wine. 37 They called out to him, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 A sign was fastened above him with these words: “This is the King of the Jews.”

    39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!”

    40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

    43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

    Matthew 5:43-44

    43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

    Matthew 18:21-22 21 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

  • Crete: A Gospel Case Study — Part 3

    Titus 1:1, 3:14 NIV

    Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness … Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.

  • Crete: A Gospel Case Study — Part 2

    Titus 1:5 (NIV)

    5 The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders in every town, as I directed you.

    Titus 1:12-16 (NIV)

    12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.” 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

  • Crete: A Gospel Case Study — Part 1

    Titus 3:3-8 (NIV)

    2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
