What are the disciplines that are consistent throughout a person’s life who experiences transformation? One of them is reflection on Scripture. Few things can have a more profound impact on us than consistently reading the Bible.

One of our biggest problems as human beings is our addiction to ourselves.  We're selfish.  I we drift, it's going to be toward selfishness, NOT selflessness.  We have to discipline ourselves to put others' needs and desires above our own.  To become like Jesus, we have to serve.

Transformation won't come if we don't create space for it.  Transformation comes through consistently disciplining ourselves to create space in our lives to pay attention to God.  If we don't "turn aside" from what's happening around us, we're unlikely to encounter God.
