A conversation so nice we had to do it twice. This is one of the most important elections of our lives. Politicians say this every four years, or at least when they want people to vote for them. We're living through some of the most unprecedented times. Our voice and vote is needed now more than ever. We can't stress or emphasize this point enough. If you haven't registered, please do so. And VOTE. In this latest episode we cover the history of voting . The advancements, set backs, and the current rules and regulations regarding voting today and how it effects all of us.
Get excited. This is one of the few opportunities we have to participate in our democracy. Let your voice be heard!
In this episode we say the names of the fallen due to police violence, Jamal Floyd and Nicolas Chavez, and we highlight two organizations, doing amazing work in activism and education spaces, Know Your Rights Camp and When We All Vote.
We are entering the home stretch of this election season and we could not be more proud of the work we're doing. Thank you so much for giving us a listen and hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

It seems as if things are moving so fast right now. With less than a full month until the 2020 elections, we over here at Unlearn And Relearn are keeping up as much as we can. We had a huge development in the Breonna Taylor investigation and because of that we wanted to take this time to break her story down and talk about how we came to know her, what has happened in the last few weeks regarding the investigation, and the inspiration her life has had on all of us fighting for justice. This episode is dedicated to her memory not as way to leave it in the past but as a call to action to push forward and inform more people because this is the work and we have dedicated our lives to be involved. There are good days and not so good days. No matter what, we will keep pushing and fighting, loving, and holding each other up.
We also take the time to say the names of our fallen this week, Damian Daniels and Alteria Woods and we highlight awesome activists, Nicole Cardoza and Slauson Girl. Two Black womxn doing amazing work in this social justice space.
We say this every week but on a emotionally heavy week like this one, we want to thank you so much for taking the time to give us a listen. As always, thanks for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

Welcome back to another episode of The Unlearn And Relearn. Podcast. We do a little more relearning on this episode as we unpack and celebrate the life and mourn the death of a Legal Legend, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The advancements made in women's rights and the ability of women to be able to do things today that we take for granted are directly tied to the masterful legal work Ginsburg did over the course of her trailblazing career. We also cover what her death means for our country and the upcoming election.
We say the names of our fallen this week by acknowledging the anniversary of the death of Troy Davis and remember the life and death Natasha Mckeena.
Lastly, in our activist highlight section we talk about the women business centered 'WoMi app and the activism work of the amazing Janaya "Future" Khan. This episode will enlighten and teach you some things you may have not known about how things used to be. And that is a good thing. As always, Thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

Like your life depends on it. Like your children's lives depend on it. Like the health and welfare of the planet depends on it. We are at a crucial moment in American history. If you ever wondered what that would feel like/look like, you're in it RIGHT NOW. Our country is on the precipice of going in one of two completely diametrically opposed directions. Either we go towards America being what it can be and keep the promise or we descend into a realm of division of which we may not recover. One of the major keys to doing something about the direction we go in is your ability to engage your sphere of influence however big or small that may be and encourage and demand people educate themselves on the issues and VOTE.
In this episode we cover the current fights to keep voting a sound and credible institution against the attacks of the Trump administration and his cronies . We talk about voter suppression tactics, voter intimidation, and lies and misinformation that are the hallmarks of the times we're living in. We also talk about the importance of voting locally, being registered, and how much of a profound impact local political engagement can have.
To round out our show we say the names of two of our fallen due to state-sanctioned violence "Walter Scott" and "Dominique Clayton" and we highlight two people, Kendrick Sampson and Scotty Smart, doing great work in their respective communities.
This might be our most important show so far. As always and right on time, thanks so much for hanging with us as we Unlearn the BS and Relearn the good stuff.

Did you forget there's a presidential election coming up soon? Of course you didn't, you're always on top of your game. And if you did, we're here to remind you of that fact and also to remind you that just because we may vote one administration out and put another one in, our issues, concerns and demands for justice & accountability will not go away. We have possibly some of the worst choices this time around and we have to be smart about how we move. Our position here at Unlearn And Relearn HQ is that Trump and his band of crazy criminals must go. Although, we're under no illusions or delusions about the cast of characters that are posed to replace them. So in this time, we must reaffirm our dislike for him and our mistrust of the Biden team and hold them both equally accountable for past statements and future actions.
In this episode we walk that fine line of denouncing one side while giving the other side the hardest side-eye imaginable. We talk about the ACLU and how they're actively fighting back against Trump and winning. Why would Trump call troops losers and suckers? Trumps support for crazy conspiracy nuts and why Biden/Harris is the ticket we never wanted but will actively fight against and force to implement the changes we need to see. We say the names of our fallen 'Dijon Kizze' & 'Daniel Prude', tell their stories and highlight how Active Advocate and Tamika Mallory are doing great work on the local and national level respectively. The episode has a little bit for every one. We love doing this work and hope you love listening. As always, thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

So much has been going on in the last few weeks, few days, and few hours. News and events are coming at us with rapid speed. Through all of this we must remember that it's crucial to keep self-care at the forefront of your mind and daily activities. In this episode we cover some very tragic and tough topics including missing children in Atlanta, police uneven responses to protests depending on who is protesting and the suspected Kenosha, Wisconsin protest shooter. Why did an RNC speaker say it was OK if her Black child was racially profiled by the police? We say the names, "Jay Anderson" and "Deborah Danner" and pay a special tribute to and celebrate the untimely death of our fallen hero and King, Chadwick Boseman.
We cover these topics and so much more. What a week it has been. Please remember that the struggle is not won in a day but there are days where progress is made and in order to see the change, we must be the change. Honor those that have done the work before you and set out to continue that work in the best ways you see fit. Again and as always, thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

We live in interesting times indeed. Social and civil unrest. Global instability. Economic hardships for many. A government that seem unresponsive and ill-equipped to deal with the most pressing needs of its people. State-sanctioned police violence. And to make matters worst, a global pandemic that has taken at least 180,000 of our people here in America. Let's be honest, shit was hard before Covid hit. Things are significantly harder now. In this episode we breakdown what's going when it comes to this deadly disease and it's financial and social impact on marginalized communities. We also cover how it's affecting the education of our children, health outcomes, and housing and evictions.
Why does it seem like so many people are having COVID parties and is the government response correct or too much? And how did "protests" (Our First Amendment Right) become a function that needed to be added to the list of things we're not allowed to do under new COVID restriction rules?
We talk about all these topics and a whole lot more including our Activists Highlight section where we cover awesome people doing great work in their communities. This episode was a good one. Please give it a listen. Always on time and never late, thanks so much for hanging with us and we unlearn the BS and relearn the Good Stuff.

These are uncertain times we're living through socially and politically. It seems like there's always something to do. Another protest to attend. A list of petitions that need to be signed, promoted and shared. Many difficult and stressful conversations are happening. On the political front there's also so much work that always needs to be done. From knocking on doors, advocating for marginalized people, to fighting for justice and raising awareness about injustice, the list is long and the actions are seemingly non-stop. In the middle of all this upheaval, you must find the time to take care of yourself. We're no good to anyone include those we love if we don't take time to care for each other and ourselves.
In this episode we talk self-care strategies, tips, and techniques to help find the balance between fighting for what's right and caring for yourself and others. It's OK to take a break. it's OK to be tired and rest. It's OK to take a day off. There's plenty of work and millions of us in this fight. You are not alone. Using our recent and past experiences as starting points for this very needed conversation, we dive deep and explore what it looks like to be in the fight but also find your peace and center. This is a great conversation and we hope you feel the same.
Right on time and never late. As always and with love and gratitude, thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

This episode is special. Not that kind of special but the other kind of special. Yeah, that one. We have more to give our listeners and we want to thank you so much for hanging with us so we have another extra episode for you, because you earned it. In this extra special Friday episode, we cover the topic of Racism in the Wellness Space. Racism has pervaded every aspect of human existence in our current world. You can't turn over a rock without seeing how another industry has been negatively affected by the worst parts or prejudice and discrimination. From fitness to fashion, art and sports, racism is in everything. What made the people of the wellness industry, my industry, think it would be any different?
Using the story of Nicole Cardoza, Kathryn Budig, and the Yoga Journal controversy as our jumping off point, we dive deep and explore how implicit bias, well-meaning language, and overt discrimination finds it way underneath the masks of smiles, inclusion, diversity, and Namaste.
Again and as always, thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Firing On All Cylinders"? I think it has something to do with cars and peak performance. This week's episode is just that. Peak performance at it's peak. Following our new format, we tackle the complex yet tired old story of 'white saviorism' gone "Rouge". Using the recent fallout in Portland, Oregon from the organization 'Wall Of Mom's' and their "apparent" anti-black racist behavior, we dive deep and uncover the details of how well-meaning assistance mixed with poor communication skills can have toxic and dangerous results. Something about the road to hell and good intentions comes to mind. This is a clear-cut case of what not to do when you're claiming to help marginalized people.
Also, we talk the latest news of the week, people doing great work in their communities, and we say the names and tell the stories of our fallen due to state-sanctioned police violence.
This is a great episode to listen to because we made it and we're pretty cool. So you should listen to it. Never late and right on time. As always, thanks so much for hanging with us as we unlearn the BS and relearn the good stuff.
