In the final episode of our Series, (UN)Learn to Learn, Subria Lapps joins us on the show. Subria Lapps is a vocal artist, an education consultant and her work centers on racial equity. Subria lives by the philosophy that the “revolution is right here,” and that our biggest opportunity to effect change around anti-black racism and other forms of oppression happens in our homes and within our personal relationships. Subria is working on completing her first EP and in her spare time you can find her listening to Soca music or reading black feminist literature.
This series was created in May of 2020 after the horrific acts of violence and injustice against George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Christian Cooper etc., unfolded right before our eyes on mainstream media and social channels. These events, that unfortunately represent the experiences of countless others in America and this world, moved me to share even more on this platform and to speak to my Black friends, family and community members, so they too can share their stories and educate on The Black Experience. Today we continue to share the realities of Black People Living in our society plagued with white supremacy and systems that keep that in place. I am holding space for us to have open and honest dialogue, that will hopefully inspire people to think differently and be part of the unlearning, relearning and change towards actually equality.
In this episode with Subria, we continue the discussion on race relations and solidarity, specifically how solidarity with Black Women can be created in the workplace and other private and public places.
