Since the start of October 2020, demonstrators in the thousands swarmed the streets after a video went viral showing an unarmed citizen shot in cold blood by a unit of the Nigerian Police Force, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). What started out as a peaceful to end police brutality in the country and demanding justice for victims of police violence and extrajudicial killings, took a different turn when when the the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian army harassed and shot at peace protesters. Many were injured and sadly many lives were lost.
In this episode we discussed the protests in Nigeria, majorly the #ENDSARS protest, it’s effectiveness in social change. We also talked about the lackadaisical attitude from the people “in charge” towards the cries of its citizens. We also gave pointers/strategies on how to prepare for protests.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET the screams, the cries, the gunshots, the blood stained flag, the men in uniform, the men “in charge” and the dept you owe us
WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER our fight, our unity, our resilience and our Fallen Hereos.
