In this Episode, Nay & Ang chat with Khiara Lee about Black Maternal Health Disparities. Khiara is a graduating Master’s of Public Health candidate concentrating in Maternal and Child Health from Brown University. Khiara is from Coldwater, MS, and got her BS in Biology minor in Psychology from Tougaloo College in Jackson, MS. Khiara thought she would go to medical school and become an OB/GYN, instead, she does research surrounding maternal health outcomes that negatively affect minority communities, specifically the African American community in the South. To deepen her research knowledge, she will attend the University of Maryland to get her Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health to become a research professor at an HBCU.
