The Jewish people of Jesus’ day had gotten really good at knowing scripture, obeying its laws and rules, and even adding many more to obey. Yet, they were not, in general, a people who loved God and sought a relationship with Him. And because of this, Pastor Gary teaches today, they felt the weight of the burden of trying to be good enough. Jesus came to them to free them of the fruitless effort of working their way to Heaven. He offered them the free gift of grace and forgiveness to all who’d simply believe in Him.
