What if the thing creating problems for you isn't actually a weakness?
What if it's one of your greatest strengths being turned up too high?
In this episode of Unlocking Your Freedom, Kevin introduces the idea of Brilliance & Beast — how the same qualities that help make you successful can also create problems when they're overused, misused, or misunderstood.
Drive can become never feeling like you've done enough.
Responsibility can become taking everything on yourself.
Decisiveness can become running over the people around you.
The goal isn't to get rid of your strengths or become a different person. It's to recognize when those strengths are serving you — and when they're starting to run you.
In this episode, you'll learn:
• Why your biggest challenge may be connected to one of your greatest strengths • How to recognize the difference between your Brilliance and your Beast • Why your intention and your impact aren't always the same • Why awareness comes before mastery • How to use Kevin's simple ACT framework: Awareness, Choose, Take Action • How to make small adjustments without trying to change who you are
Kevin also shares a simple question you can use to identify your own pattern:
Where is this strength helping me — and where is it costing me?
You probably don't need to become a different person.
You may just need to get better at using what's already there.

Defaults Under Pressure: What Comes Out When Your Capacity Runs Low
You can know exactly what to do and still not do it.
Because when pressure goes up, your capacity to choose well often goes down. And in those moments, you don't necessarily rise to the occasion. You fall back on what you've practiced.
Your defaults.
In this episode, I break down what our automatic reactions under pressure can teach us about ourselves, and why some of our biggest challenges are actually strengths we've started to overuse.
I talk about:
Why pressure reveals your defaults
The difference between knowing better and actually responding better
How your strengths can become liabilities when they're unregulated
Why other people experience your defaults, not your best intentions
How to spot the patterns you repeat when you're stressed or at capacity
Finding the strength underneath the behavior you want to change
Practicing a different response until it becomes available when you need it
The goal isn't to become a different person.
It's learning how to use your brilliance without overusing it.
A question to sit with after this episode:
What do you tend to overdo when you're under pressure?
And what would the calm, regulated version of that same strength look like?
Laughing in the Dark: Suicide Prevention, Comedy, and Hope with Frank King
In this episode, Kevin sits down with Frank King, a suicide prevention speaker, comedian, and former writer for The Tonight Show. Frank spent 20 years writing for late night television and has been a full time speaker and comedian for more than 40 years.
Frank's work is deeply personal. His speaking is shaped by his lifelong experience with Major Depressive Disorder and Chronic Suicidal Ideation, including moments where he came close enough to ending his life that he can speak honestly and powerfully about what that darkness feels like.
Instead of hiding that story, Frank has turned his long, dark journey of the soul into lifesaving work. He has delivered 13 TEDx Talks and shares his insights with corporations, associations, and audiences across the country to help people understand suicide prevention, mental health, and the power of honest conversation.
Over the course of his career, Frank has shared the stage with legendary comedians and entertainers including Jeff Foxworthy, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Dr. Ken Jeong, Ellen DeGeneres, Dennis Miller, Lou Rawls, The Beach Boys, and Randy Travis.
And somehow, on top of all that, Frank has survived two aortic valve replacements, a double bypass, a heart attack, and losing to a puppet on the original Star Search.
And yes, he's lived to joke about it all.
This conversation is honest, meaningful, surprisingly funny, and deeply human. Frank brings a rare mix of comedy, courage, and lived experience to one of the most important conversations we can have.
In This EpisodeKevin and Frank talk about:
• Suicide prevention and mental health • Living with Major Depressive Disorder • Chronic Suicidal Ideation • Why humor can help open hard conversations • Turning pain into purpose • Frank's journey as a comedian, speaker, and TEDx presenter • What people often misunderstand about suicidal thoughts • How honest conversations can save lives
About Frank KingFrank King is a suicide prevention speaker, comedian, and former writer for The Tonight Show. He has been a full time speaker and comedian for 40 years and has delivered 13 TEDx Talks. His work is informed by his lived experience with Major Depressive Disorder and Chronic Suicidal Ideation, and he now uses comedy and storytelling to help organizations have lifesaving conversations around mental health and suicide prevention.
What if the fastest way to get unstuck isn't another hack, planner, or pep talk, but a cleaner filter for your decisions.
In this episode, Mick White walks us through the core question behind his 100 Year Manifesto and why purpose isn't something you find, it's something you build. We talk clarity in chaos, turning pain into purpose, and how leaders can create cultures where people don't just show up, they show up on purpose.
What we get intoThe one question that cuts through the noise: what truly matters 100 years from now
Why purpose is a decision filter, not a mood
Mick's origin story and the moment everything fell apart, and what he chose to build anyway
How clarity creates momentum, and why action creates even more clarity
The difference between being busy and being aligned
How purpose scales inside organizations through workshops, keynotes, and team programs
How community changes everything when you're trying to live a bigger life
Purpose fuels resilience. When life gets loud, purpose helps you keep your footing.
Long term thinking creates short term calm. A 100 year lens makes today's choices cleaner.
Clarity isn't your starting line. Action is. You move first, then the path gets clearer.
Culture isn't posters. It's people aligned around meaning, values, and shared commitments.
Pick one decision you've been avoiding and ask: what will matter 100 years from now
Write 5 core values you won't negotiate, even when things get hard
Create a simple personal manifesto: values, mission, life goals, words to live by
Find your people. Purpose is hard to maintain alone
"Life is short. Live on purpose."
"Purpose isn't something you find, it's something you build."
"When you align actions with what matters most, decisions get easier."
Mick White is the founder of the 100 Year Manifesto, a framework designed to help people live with clarity, purpose, and impact.
