Exposing mainstream media coverage of life in the People's Republic of China. During today's episode, we discuss what life is truly like in the socialist country. We also debunk claims that China is a "capitalist" and "imperialist" country. Today's guest is Comrade Elishuva (Connor Gillis), a 12-year communist who joined the movement in 2009. At 17 years old, shortly after the 2008 financial crash, Elishuva spent their Occupy Wall Street years in the Maoist movement of the Austin, Texas area, where they spent much of their time in the protest scene. In 2013, Elishuva met a Chinese communist at their university who made them question their Maoism. In 2014, after graduating from college, Elishuva moved to China to teach Oral English. They spent the next five years living, teaching, traveling, and learning all across China. Since returning to the United States in 2019, Elishuva has been active in the Marxist-Leninist movement as well as the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).
