According to the Smith’s Bible Dictionary, Habakkuk means (embrace). This book would be the eighth, in order, of the Minor Prophets. Of the facts of the prophet's life, we have no certain information.

One important aspect of the ancient Old Testament order of the Hebrew Bible is that the 12 prophetic works of Hosea through Malachi, sometimes referred to as the Minor Prophets, were designed as a single book called The Twelve. Habakkuk is the eighth book of The Twelve.

Habakkuk lived in the final decades of Judah, Israel’s southern kingdom. It was a time of injustice and idolatry, and he saw the rising threat of the Babylonian empire on the horizon. Unlike the other Hebrew prophets, Habakkuk doesn’t accuse Israel or even speak to the people on Yahweh’s behalf. Instead, all of his words are addressed to Yahweh. The book of Habakkuk tells us about Habakkuk’s personal struggle to believe that Yahweh is good when there is so much tragedy and evil in the world.

Habakkuk sees the darkness of the world as an invitation to have faith in Yahweh’s promise to one day set things right. Living with such faith means trusting that Yahweh loves this world and works to one day eliminate all evil forever.

In this chapter 2 we have an answer expected by the prophet (verse 1), and returned by the Spirit of Yahweh, to the complaints which the prophet made of the violence’s and victories of the Chaldeans in the close of the prior chapter. The answer is,  

I. That after Yahweh has served his own purposes by the prevailing power of the Chaldeans, has tried the faith and patience of his people, and distinguished between the hypocrites and the sincere among them, he will consider with the Chaldeans, will humble and bring down, not only that proud monarch Nebuchadnezzar, but that proud monarchy, for their boundless and greedy thirst after dominion and wealth, for which they themselves should at length be made a prey (verses 2-8).

 II. That not they only, but all other sinners like them, should perish under a divine woe.  

1. Those that are jealous are greedy of wealth and honors (verses 9, 11).  

2. Those that are harmful and oppressive and raise estates by wrongful acts and the violent seizure of someone’s property (verses 12-14).  

3. Those that promote drunkenness that they may expose their neighbors to shame (verses 15-17).  

4. Those that worship idols (verses 18-20).

As we read in that verse 15, we seen a severe woe is pronounced against drunkenness; keep in mind that it is very fearful against all who are guilty of drunkenness at any time, and in any place, from those in high place even do to the beer joints. To give one a drink who is in need, other words, one who is thirsty and poor, or a weary traveler, or ready to perish, is charity; BUT to give a neighbor a hard drink, that he may expose himself, may disclose secret concerns, or be drawn into a bad bargain, or for any such purpose, this is wickedness! To be guilty of this sin, to take pleasure in it, is to do what we can towards the murder both of soul and body. There is woe to him, and punishment answering to the sin. The folly of worshipping idols is exposed. The Lord is in his holy temple in heaven, where we have access to him in the way he has appointed. May we welcome his salvation, and worship him in his earthly temples, through Yahshua Messiah, and by the influence of the Holy Spirit.

Woe = Note the five woes in verses: 6, 9, 12, 15, and 19.

Never forget that every crime there is linked a curse, to every sin a suffering, to every wrong a woe. You can be sure that "your sins will find you out!”

Once again, I emphasize that these plagues were against the Egyptians deities!!!

27  The Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked = The original is very emphatic: Yahweh is The Righteous One, (הצדיק  hatstaddik [tsad-deek']), and I and my people are The Sinners, (הרשעים  hareshaim [ha- raw-shaw']); i.e., He is alone righteous, and we alone are transgressors. Who could have imagined that after such an acknowledgment and confession, Pharaoh should have again hardened his heart?

28   It is enough = There is no need of any farther plague; I submit to the authority of Elohim and will rebel no more

Mighty thunderings = כלת אלהים  koloth Elohim, voices of Elohim; - that is, exceptionally loud thunder

29   I will spread abroad = ‘pâraś’ ‘paw-ras'’ ‘Aleph-Tav’

Pey = (mouth) blow, scatter, edge

resh = (head of a Man) front, head, chief, first, top, beginning

Shin = (two front teeth) sharp, press, eat, two

Aleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leader

Tav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and cross

To spread apart in the sense of splitting! Keep in mind by adding the ‘Aleph-Tav’ this is NOT Moses that is causing this split, but Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah. Another slap into the face of the Egyptians gods

Verses 1-20     The Eighth Plague     Locusts

Kaph = (open palm) bend, open, allow, tame

Bet = (tent floor plan) family, house, in

dalet – (tent door) move, hang, entrance

Aleph = (ox) strength, strong, power, leader

Tav = (cross) sign, covenant seal, mark and cross

Someone or something that is heavy in weight, wealth, abundance, importance or respect. The key point here is that Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah may have sent a spirit to make the Pharaoh’s heart heavy

The phrase most often translated ‘hardening of the heart’ occurs 19 times (Denotes the Perfection of Divine Order connected with Judgment.); 10 times it is said that Pharaoh hardened his heart; and 9 times the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart is ascribed to Yahweh. So we see that there are 2 sides to this hardening

2   I have wrought = the Hebrew verb is uncommon. It implies an action, which brings shame and disgrace upon its object, making them, so to speak, playthings of Elohims Divine power

I start in this study reading from Thomas Horn Book ‘The Gods’ PDF page 73.

Osiris is a VERY well known character in both history and mythology. He plays a prominent role in secret societies and even in our own government. But more than that, I believe he is the central character we need to look at when it comes to understanding the times we live in and what is to come in the near future.

For instance, did you know that Osiris is the only other god of antiquity apart from Yahshua that was known as, "The King of kings and Lord of lords?"

"...he is exceedingly mighty and most terrible in his name 'Osiris'; he endureth for ever and forever in his name of 'Un-nefer.' Homage be to thee, O King of kings, Lord of lords, Ruler of princes, who from the womb of Nut hast ruled the world and the Underworld..."

Once again Osiris' symbol is the ankh, which looks remarkably like a cross. One dominant theory is that the "loop" at the top of the ankh represents resurrection - as in the rebirth of the sun. This would seem to go along with the NUMEROUS dying and resurrecting sun gods born on December 25th that are found in the ancient world. And suffice it to say, it is not by chance, coincidence or accident that the Son of Yahweh was crucified on the symbol of the sun god!

With that in mind, I feel it is important to note that in Nimrod's incarnation as Osiris, you can truly see a mirror (reversed) image of Yahshua Messiah. Where Yahshua is the Son of Yahweh, the Messiah, Osiris is the exact antithesis. He is the sun god, the false messiah, the ANTI-Christ! This is one of the primary reasons why I believe Christians should have absolutely nothing to do with associating Yahshua Messiah and the date, December 25th. It was NOT Yahshua Messiahs' birthday. It was the birthday of Nimrod/Osiris/Baal/Mithra.

13   rise up early in the morning = Pharaoh seems to rise early in the morning, and so was a convenient time to meet with him, and converse with him; it might be one of the mornings in which he used to go to the water early, though not mentioned, unless that was every morning.

Pharaoh = Let’s take a deeper look into the Pharaoh. The name is a compound, as some think, of the words Ra, the “sun” or “sun-god,” and the article phe, “the,” prefixed; hence phera, “the sun,” or “the sun-god.” But others, perhaps more correctly, think the name derived from Perao, “the great house” = his majesty = in Turkish, “the Sublime Porte.” 

Albert Pike states about Ra on page 254 in his book Morals and Dogma, in the Chapter titled Knight of the East and West, ‘The Ram was His living symbol; which you see reproduced in this Degree, lying on the book with seven seals on the tracing board.

I hope you are getting the big picture here. There is nothing new under the sun. This is what is being taught in Freemasonry as well in new age cults. We have to expose this evil and show those involve that our Yahweh/Elohim defeated these demons of Satan!!!!

 18     To-morrow about this time = The time of this plague is marked thus circumstantially to show Pharaoh that Elohim was Yahweh of heaven and earth, and that the water, the fire, the earth, and the air, which were all objects of Egyptian idolatry, were the creatures of His power; and subservient to His will; and that, far from being able to help them, they were now, in the hands of Elohim, instruments of their destruction.

We continue with verse 11 

11.   This is poetic language, describing how even their habitations would cry out because of Yahweh’s judgment and destruction. A rafter from wood will answer it: There is (even) unity between these building materials. At that time, the walls of the houses were built from stone, and roofs were made of wood. Using poetic language, the writer is revealing to us that even the wood and stone cried out a warning to the people. These inanimate objects realized that the sinfulness of the people was going to be ultimately judged by Yahweh. The Babylonians were not smarter than the stone and the wood of their homes. Those who lived in these houses paid no attention to what their future truly held.

12.  Yahweh was not only displeased with the greedy man, He also pronounced a woe against the violent man.
This was the foundation of the Babylonian mindset. They built up their cities, their empire, by shedding the blood of others. They incorrectly thought that this activity was going to ultimately make them strong and secure. This was not the case.

13.   Note: This verse is a question. The grammar here always implies a negative answer. 

14.   Note: This verse is a verse of contrast. The other verses have dealt with the Babylonians. In this verse we see that Yahweh shows a contrast between the Babylonians and their idols and Himself – the only true Yahweh, the Yahweh of Israel.

After waiting for an answer from Yahweh, Habakkuk finally gets what he is looking. 

Beginning with verse 6 we see the ‘Woe to the Chaldeans’

6.  Shall not all these = the “nations” and “peoples” (verse 5) “heaped unto him” by the Chaldean.

parable = Hebrew. mashal. Comparison: Often a parable or proverb as a story of comparisons.

take up a parable = a sarcastic song.

proverb = enigma, mystery, riddle, puzzle or trick.  Hebrew. hidah, as in Psa. 78:2. 

against him = when dislodged from his former reputation.

Woe = Note the five woes in verses: 6, 9, 12, 15, 19. The “sarcastic song” here begins, and continues to the end of the chapter. It is a symmetrical whole, and consists of five stanzas; the first three consisting of three verses each, the fourth of four verses, and the last of two. Each stanza has its own subject, and all except the last begin with “Woe”; and all have a closing verse introduced with “for,” “because,” or “but.”

how long? = i.e. for his time is short. How long meant to retain his ill-gotten gains?

thick clay = pledges. 

ladeth himself with thick clay = namely, gold and silver dug out of the “clay,” of which they are a part.

7.  suddenly = the answer to the question, “How long?” (verse 6).

Bite = or, exact usury. Often used of usury. 

vex = shake. Or to agitate (as with fear)

watch = ‘mish-meh'-reth’ watch-tower; referring to the place. 

set me = take my station. 

tower = fortress. 

watch = ‘tsaw-faw'’look out; referring to the act = keep outlook. 

unto: = or, in.

And watch to see what He will say unto me = Habakkuk has raised two important questions with Yahweh, yet he asked both with a proper attitude

2   The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith verse 2-5; Woes against Babylon

Write the vision = which I am about to reveal to thee. Reference to the Old Testament (Deut. 27:8). ‘And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.’

The true sense is, “so legible that whoever readeth it, may run to tell all whom he can the good news of the foe’s coming doom, and Judah’s deliverance.”

“Run” is equivalent to announce the divine revelation (Jerm. 23:21); as everyone who becomes informed of a divine message is bound to run, that is, use all dispatch to make it known to others.

8   Ashes of the furnace = The next plague attacked the persons of the Egyptians, and it appeared in the form of ulcerous eruptions upon the skin and flesh (Lev. 13:20; 2 Kings 20:7; Job 2:7).

9   Shall be a boil =This word is generally expounded, an inflammatory swelling, a burning boil; one of the most poignant afflictions, not immediately mortal, that can well affect the surface of the human body.

They took the ashes, as commanded by Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah. They DID NOT do this on their own. They followed the commandment of Yahweh.

11   And the magicians could not stand before Moses, because of the boils = Which were on them as on others, and which with all their art and skill they could not keep off

Chet = (tent wall) outside, divide, half

zayin = (mattack) food, cut, nourish

quph = (sun on the horizon) condense, circle, time

This Hebrew word means to Seize: To grab hold tightly. To refrain or support by grabbing hold. But by adding the ‘eth’ we see that the Spirit of Yahweh/Yahshua is the one that is actually seizing Pharaoh’s heart. Why is Yahweh doing this? I believe so that all of the Egyptian deities would be defeated by the miracles perform by Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah!

I read from Thomas Horn book “The Gods”

I talk about Sekhmet. "The Powerful One." Egyptian lioness goddess, daughter of Ra. In Memphis she formed part of the Memphite triad together with Ptah as her consort and Nefertum (otherwise the son of Bastet) as her son. Depicted as a lioness or in a human form with the head of a lioness. She was generally shown crowned by the solar disk, [note the serpent surrounding the disc], holding the Ankh (life) symbol or a scepter in the shape of a papyrus reed. In Thebes Sekhmet came to be combined with Mut, the consort of the Theban sun god Amun. She had a warlike aspect and was said to breathe fire at the enemies of the Pharaoh. Like the goddess Hathor, Sekhmet could become the 'eye of Ra,' an agent of the sun god's punishment. She was believed to be the bearer of plague and pestilence, but in a more benign aspect she was called upon in spells and amulets to ward of disease.

What does the Bible say about Halloween? Is the holiday just harmless fun? Why do Christians celebrate it?

According to the National Retail Federation, seven in ten Americans (who live in a country that still marginally believes in the Bible) now celebrate Halloween. Total spending on the holiday is in the billions of dollars. Foods that are often associated with it include Bonfire toffee (Great Britain), candy and toffee apples (Great Britain, Ireland), caramel apples and candy corn, candy shaped like skulls, bats, and so on, as well as pumpkins (a Halloween tradition).

Everyone knows the celebration of Halloween, All Hallowed's Ev'n, involves witches, warlocks, jack-o-lanterns, and an odd little phrase, “trick or treat.” They feel it’s innocent, and all about pretending as they teach their little ones to dress up and join in the fun.  Is our Creator fond of us doing this, or are we practicing something originating in darkness that is absolutely evil in His eyes?  The word “Halloween” is a hybridization of the phrase “All Hallow’s Eve,” or All Hallowed’s Ev’n.  The Catholic Circus had made November 1st "All Saints' Day" in order to re-invent the pagans' festival of death. The night before became known as All Halloweds' Evening." “Hallowed” means “Holy,” and is a word derived from “halo,” a nimbus, hoop, or glowing emanation around the head of a deity such as Krishna (India).  Buddha is often depicted with a hoop or glowing orb around his head, as is “Jupiter” of the Romans, and Ceruiden of the Druids.  This practice of relating a round glow to the heads of deities or “enlightened ones” was adopted by Catholicism from the Romans, stemming from even more ancient Pagans.  The statue of Jupiter has a halo, and was re-named Peter.  The Catholics adopted the halo from Paganism to indicate that a person was a saint, so their images of dead “saints” could be properly venerated.  The idea of being “haloed” meant the person was “holy,” and this idea is conveyed in the term “hallowed”, pertaining to veneration / worship, or "sacred."  Whatever Yahweh declares set-apart (qodesh) is set-apart; what man declares set-apart, unsupported by the Words of Yahweh, is an abomination to Him.

From this date through Halloween, occultists believe the veil separating the earthly dimension from the demonic realm gets progressively thinner, with the thinnest night being October 31; this thinning of the separating veil makes it easier for the demonic realm to enter the earthly dimension. 

Thus, on Halloween, evil spirits, ghosts, witches, hobgoblins, black cats, fairies, and demons of all sorts were believed to be running amok across the land. They had to be back in their spiritual dimension before midnight, Halloween, for the separating veil would then get thicker.

Habakkuk (embrace)

According to the Smith’s Bible Dictionary, Habakkuk means (embrace). This book would be the eighth, in order, of the Minor Prophets. Of the facts of the prophet's life, we have no certain information.

One important aspect of the ancient Old Testament order of the Hebrew Bible is that the 12 prophetic works of Hosea through Malachi, sometimes referred to as the Minor Prophets, were designed as a single book called The Twelve. Habakkuk is the eighth book of The Twelve.

Habakkuk lived in the final decades of Judah, Israel’s southern kingdom. It was a time of injustice and idolatry, and he saw the rising threat of the Babylonian empire on the horizon. Unlike the other Hebrew prophets, Habakkuk doesn’t accuse Israel or even speak to the people on Yahweh’s behalf. Instead, all of his words are addressed to Yahweh. The book of Habakkuk tells us about Habakkuk’s personal struggle to believe that Yahweh is good when there is so much tragedy and evil in the world.

Habakkuk sees the darkness of the world as an invitation to have faith in Yahweh’s promise to one day set things right. Living with such faith means trusting that Yahweh loves this world and works to one day eliminate all evil forever.

So far in this Book of Habakkuk, we have seen beginning with verses 1 thru 4 Habakkuk cry to Yahweh, Other words Habakkuk's Complaint.

Then beginning with verses 5 thru 11 we read about Yahweh’s answer.

Now we come to the second problem: “Why do it this way, O YAHWEH?” Beginning with verses 12-17 Habakkuk wonders why Yahweh would use a nation more wicked than Judah to bring judgment on Judah.

12  Art Thou not . . . ? = Note the change of subject, the prophets cry. 

God = Elohim. The Creator  

my Elohim, mine Holy One = Habakkuk speaks in the name of his people. Yahweh was “the Holy One of Israel,” against whom the Chaldean was setting up himself. 

we shall not die = Thou, as being our Elohim/Creator, wilt not permit the Chaldeans utterly to destroy us. This reading is one of the eighteen called by the Hebrews “the appointment of the scribes”; the Rabbis think that Ezra and his colleagues corrected the old reading, “Thou shalt not die.”

thou hast ordained them for judgment = that is, to execute Thy judgments.

O mighty Elohim = O Rock. Compare Deut. 32:4, 15, 18, 30; 1Sam. 2:2. 2Sam. 23:3. Psa. 18:2, 31, 46; 19:14, &c.

for correction = to chastise transgressors.

13  Thou art, &c. = Note the Figure of Speech, Synchoresis; or, Concession

Making a Concession of one Point to gain another

purer ... than to behold evil = without being displeased at it. This is even more problematic to Habakkuk because he knew the character of Yahweh.

canst not look on iniquity = unjust injuries done to Thy people.

15   they take up all of them = all kinds of fishes, that is, men, as captives, and all other prey that comes in their way.

angle = hook. 

drag = a fish-net. Occurs only here (verses: 15-16) and in Isa. 19:8.

therefore = because of their successes.

they rejoice = They glory in their crimes because attended with success

16  sacrifice unto their net = that is, their arms, power, and military skill, wherewith they gained their victories; instead of to Yahweh. They idolize themselves for their own cleverness and might.

17  Shall they ... empty their net? = Shall they be allowed without interruption to enjoy the fruits of their violence?
